Hello fx1360. From your info the timer is sticking. You will need to unplug AC power first, if you don't have enough room behind the unit you will turn off the water facets and disconnect the hoses. Remove the back panel to the control housing. Before you disconnect any wiring make notes what color wire went where. Remove the knob and mounting screws to remove the controler. Now it is desion time. Option #1- note model & serial#, find a applance repair shop & get a replacement. If Mr. Budget says NO! Option#2- open the the housing of the control & clean the contacts with a burnising tool or emory fine grain sanding paper. This step will be like a watch repairman. Your brushes are worn down or your cam has worn down or the gears driving the cam are worn down. Good Luck.

Washer stops during normal wash cycle for a minute or more, and then continues. Would replacing the timer fix it?

If it actually goes on and finishes the cycle and that really bothers you replace it. If not leave it alone and allow a little more time to complete its cycle. The lid switch only keeps the spin cycle from going with the top open.

Timer Stops Cycle

That depends. Is the machine only stopping during the spin cycle? If it has a water pressure backwash censor then you might need to take a look at the plumbing for water leaving the machine. If it does not have this problem, I recommend replacing the timer assembly again.

My kenmore stacked washer/dryer has a wash cycle that can last for 12 hours. it will ultimately finish and clothes will be cleaned properly but it takes long breaks during the cycle.

The time it takes to do a cycle is determined by the washing machine timer. That is driven by a clock motor. This is an older machine so what is happening is that the motor on the timer is stopping and starting. A replacement timer is sold only as a complete assembly. I'm fairly sure you washing machine does the best job in the world in cleaning cloths.
Hope this helps,
Best,

Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer: During washing cycle it stops and beeps with the l...

First check your washer plug to see if the connections are tightly screwed. Next check your filter if you haven't for long.

Remove the 3 screws at the bottom of the front panel under the washer door. Your filter door will be light brown. If you find a hose there it is to drain out excess water (water that could not be drained by your pump) After you hv drained unscrew the cap and remove all the junk inside. Have a large plastic bag to catch junk and water. Refit carefully after cleaning out. If not solved, something shd be blocking your pump, check this out

Water building up during the dry cycle and clothes getting wetter

1) Make sure wash cycle is 100% finished (sometimes dryer will start before - usu on synthetic cycle & allows water to continue flowing in)

2) Manually start the dry cycle after you ensure wash cycle is finished and push in the wash cycle button.

Hope that helps! If not, you may need a new control module (I did - hope you don't!)

Washer model LAT9824AAE will stop during the wash cycle but timer still runs thru cycle. Sometimes fills and then will not agitate if you fiddle with the timer knob pushing side to side it will run is it...

Timer is definately faulty. the cam is plastic and eventually wears. This in turn creates excessive movement internally which stops the contacts from activating correctly. Replace it.
