What version of windows are you running? Can you still see your start menu and desktop? If not, can you press control+alt+delete and bring up Task Manager?

My Acer Aspire 5552-3691 has a blank screen with the cursor on it... The widows wont load up but it boots up fine amd everything. Please help

The user profile may be corrupt. After it boots up, try pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL and see if a menu comes up that allows you to start the task manager. If it does allow you to start the task manager, you can try clicking "File" then "New Task" then type "explorer.exe" and then click OK to see if it brings up a desktop. You can also type "iexplore.exe" and see if it launches the browser. If any of this works, then use the task manager to launch "control.exe" (control panel) and use it to create an new administrator account if you only have one account active. Then restart the machine and log in as the new user you just created and see if it loads the desktop. If this is successful you can just use the new account and copy any files needed from the old corrupted profile.

Another thing to try if you can invoke explorer.exe is to open My Computer, right-click on the system drive and try and run the disk error check from the tools tab. It will tell you it cannot do so and ask if you want to schedule the check for the next time Window is started. Select "automatically fix errors" and check OK. Restart the machine and see if the disk checking utility finds and corrects the problem.

I Log On To My Lap-top It Passes The Loading Screen Then Gose Dark I Try To Run The Diognostics Disc. It Says I Have A IR Problem I Dont No How To Fix This Plz Help Me Steven. Thank You

If you are using Windows XP, insert your Windows CD in the CD/DVD drive and restart your computer, make sure it boots from the CD. After loading a bunch of things, you should see a screen that tells you to press "R" to go to the recovery screen. Press the R key and when that screen loads, press 1 to log onto Windows. If you are asked for a password, just press the enter key. When you get a C:\Windows prompt, type chkdsk /r and press enter. It will take up to 90 minutes for this to run. When it finishes, type exit, press enter and remove the CD from the drive. Hopefully this will fix your problem.

Acer 5520 notebook startup issues

You are missing the file NTLDR.exe and NTKRNL.exe. NTLDR is the first file your computer sees when it is booting up and it brings up other files to get your computer started then it turns it over to Windows file called NTKTRNL which actually brings up the Windows operating system. The only wayto fix is to find a Windows disc and copy them over to three folders that you have either win32, windows or winnt. Copy to all three if you see all three buy only one of those starts your system and it seems like it's win32 based on your error, folder under your C: drive. That will solve your problem and your computer will boot up normally.
