Question about Belkin (F5D7230-4) Router (587009)

1 Answer

Not really a problem

I have direct internet connection. I'm wanting to use my router so that I can access WIFI for an itouch. What procedures do I need to take to do this? Do I need to hard wire the router like I've done in the past to make connection or since I'm not using the computer for internet I'm just wanting to gain more internet lines will the router automatically pick them up?

Thanks!

You can setup the router to work with modem. When computer is online behind the router you can just connect your Itouch wirelessly to have wireless internet.

Hi, First you have to configure the router. to configure connect the patch cable to your laptop, connect the other end to the #4 ethernet slot of the router. Open a internet web browser type at the address bar the IP address 192.168.1.1 the router will open and will as for user ID admin Password is admin or password. You can change the password of the router, SSID and security enable and use passphrase or key. I hope this information will help you solve the problem. Have a Happy New Year... HRH

Hello, I've just bought an ipod touch and cannot access my internet without a password. How can I find these out without changing them ? What are IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router, DNS, Search Domains,...

I had exactly the same problem with a brand new 3rd gen iTouch. It showed it was connected to my wifi network but wouldn't access anything (invalid argument etc). I tried everything but no joy. Eventually I fixed it by changing my router's encryption from WEP to WPA2-PSK. Fixed it like magic. Where there had been no router or DNA data before, they were suddenly filled in. The key was different but was still on the bottom of the router. I had to re-enter the key on my wireless laptop2_bing.gif but that was a small price.

You can get into the router set-up page through your web browser. I found a guide on You Tube.

Good luck!

I just bought a itouch and want to access the internet throu wifi. how do i do it

First, you need a wireless router connected to your high speed modem. If you don't have one, you can pick one up from Staples or BestBuy for $50 or less. Make sure you password protect your router!
If you already have wireless setup, open the Safari browser and it will search for a wireless connection. Find your router in the list (if it's not the only one) and connect to it. If you have set a password for the router, you will need to enter it in when prompted.
Once you connect for the first time, you should be good from now on.
Good Luck!

Connect itouch to wifi

Hi mac42eli,

You need any router or wireless access point to conenct your ipod touch to the internet or even your home network.

These days most wired routers will also have the option of wireless. You can check this by entering the routers configuration page. Usually by typing in 192.168.1.1 into the address bar. Or more simply, google you wired router model to check.

Bluetooth is not currently available for connection in the ipod touch or iphone. The iphone supports it, but for bluetooth headsets. Therefore, regardless of the fact that your mac pro (very nice computer by the way) can support it, your ipod touch can't take advantage of other bluetooth devices.

I hope this helps.

Nathan.

Wifi

WiFi is not based on your computer, it is based on what you have connected to your internet modem. If you want WiFi then you will need a router that provides WiFi transmission. These routers also have standard ports to connect your equipment that doesn't support WiFi. Most Laptop computers sold now a days have wireless modems intergrated so if you upgrade your router you dont have to worry about having to buy a bunch of other things.

if you're router is in the B+G setting, try setting it to the B setting, this is because the wireless adapter in the i-phone/i-touch uses only the B setting, sucks for most part.. but that got my i-phone working like a charm.. hope this helps

Apple ipod itouch connection to wireless internet

It's since the touch doesn't officially support WPA PSK and only supports WPA2. What will work is WEP and although it is less secure very few people will bother cracking your network. If you continue to have problems with your secured connection try putting the hex key instead of the passphrase (you set hello as your password the hex would something like 0X34Hg65) it is usually displayed just beneath the password you set.
