Yes - maybe thats the problam, but I have a ASUS W3J notebook with 2 GHz 2 GB RAM and with ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 256MB video card and I think this card must be able to understand type NTSC and PAL, because when I insert the mini DVD I can watch that movie what I record, but when I open this program who comes together with my dvd camera - Panasonic Video Cam Suite everythink is going fine, but when I want to save this video on my hard disc then program show me this The video type is not PAL and so on! I bought this camera in USA, but my notebook is from Europe and on camera is written that the camera record only in NTSC format! Thats very interesting! But OK I try that what you recomend! Thanks for your help!!!

I am under the impression that your computer has a PAL video capture card. Being a laptop, it is probably built in to the mother board.

What your computer requires is an NTSC video capture card that can also handle audio as like the PAL one that is in the computer.

I would suggest you go out and get a USB type NTSC video/audio capture card. After loading the drivers and software for the new card, it should be able to accomplish your task.

Simply reinstall the VideoCam Suite software and during the installation choose NTSC instead of PAL. It did work for me.

How can i change my panasonic nv-gs230 mini dv

Best
1. Copy the video to your computer with WinDV. No "capturing" involved. The video resolution and PAL/NTSC format will be the same as the source.
2. Then convert to whatever format you like.

You could also use something that copy and converts the video directly from the DV, like convert to dvd with Ulead DVD Workshop.
DV is a fixed standard and comes in 50Hz and 60Hz versions.

50Hz ("PAL" 625/50) 720x576, 25fps interlace (aka 576i)
4:2:0 components, 25Mb/s Video Rate
LPCM audio 2ch 16bit 48KHz or 4ch 12bit 32kHz

60Hz ("NTSC" 525/60) 720x480, 29.97fps interlace (aka 480i)
4:1:1 components, 25Mb/s Video Rate
LPCM audio 2ch 16bit 48KHz or 4ch 12bit 32kHz

Meaning, You cannot change the camera. It is either a pal camera or a ntsc camera. Othewise you will have to by a firmware update from the manufacture's website.

VDR M50 drivers for Windows Vista Ultimate

plug the camera in via usb so the camera shows up as a removeable drive. if it picks up the camera as a DVD burner instead of drive, install the DVD-RAM drivers (in compatibility mode for XP SP2 w/ administrative privileges if necessary) and browse the contents of the disc - copy and paste the VRO file to your hard drive and rename it as an mpg - should be readable at that point. good luck.

NTSC AND PAL TROUBLES

DVDs are encoded in NTSC or PAL but not both it seems. And you will run into band issues as you transcode from one format to the other. On the surface it seems the store did a poor job of education.
