Question about Black & Decker Leaf Blowers
While vacuuming leaves with the Black and Decker Leaf Hog, a stick must
have gotten sucked in, and gotten into the grinding device.
This "blew" the motor? Is there anything to be done?
Take out all the screws. Gently remove half of the case. Put a shim in behind the plastic pivot that rocks the switch. I rolled up a 1/2" by 3" piede of duct tape and jammed into the back of the oval socket for the rocker. This pushes the rocker against the switch hard enough so that it rocks the switch properly. Snap the case into place and test the switch before you put the screws back in to make sure it is now working properly.

Your leaf blower does not have a reset button unfortunately. The motor is a double insulated design and does not have any serviceable parts, the motor heads are replaced as a complete unit. There is one thing you can check. Since the wash cloth placed a huge strain on the motor, which in turn, increased the ampere in the circuit, it may have tripped a circuit breaker in your house fuse panel, causing no power to the outlet you were using.

Try Platt Electrical supply - 800-257-5288 (Platt.com) BLACK & DECKER #89754-01 REPLACEMENT BRUSH. It seems the entire motor head was manufactured by DeWalt and is now obsolete. I don't know if these brushes will fit, but someone there may help.

SOURCE: My Black & Decker Leafblower Leaf Hog BV4000 type 2 quit running suddenly while using. It had run about an hour, was not warm to the touch and is 2 years old. Is thuis a common problem and what might
I have this unit. Mine stopped working today after being warm on the handle the last few uses. I opened the unit up (torx 15) and smelled, then found that a fused wire coming off the motor had burned/melted/separated at a plastic plug right inside the handle. I'm not sure if it had anything to do with it, but in this same compartment of the handle there was an anti-theft strip floating around. I called BandD and they said the BV4000 type ONE has been recalled. http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml07/07005.html
But not the type 2. Even though the failure described for the type 1 is exactly what I found in the type 2.
