i have same problem with a beer cooler

  • fxlong Feb 15, 2009

My Marvel beverage cooler runs constantly and everything freezes even at the minimum setting. I assume it's the cold control thermostat/relay, P/N 41006036, but I don't know where I can find the replacement part.

Viking VUAR141 (built by Marvel) relay isn't the problem, its probably the thermistor (temp sensor) did you get your problem solved?

I have the same problem on the same fridge. Without thinking to look here I asked a local repair guy who said I needed to replace the whole thing so I got the kit.. Now that it's here it strikes me as a little odd that the controller (the "relay" as you call it) would go out. Did you replace it or just the thermistor?

I truly doubt the control is the faulty component. It has two inputs it uses to decide when to cycle the compressor.

1) the potentiometer with the control dial is connected to terminals # 6 and 7.
2) the thermsitor is connected to terminals # 4 and 5.

Most of the time it is the thermistor that has failed. Marvel Part number 42244531.

You can order it directly from the factory by calling 800-428-6644

My Viking VUARI40 was also freezing up the contents inside the fridge causing bottles to explode. I initially thought that it was going to be the Thermostat Cold Control, however as subdriver pointed out that it most likely is the thermistor.

By the way, the Cold Control Thermostat part number 41006036 has been replaced by part number 42243506 and can be purchased at the link below for $112.99

I need a replacement Thermistor for my DUARI40 beverage fridge. The Thermocouple has a label saying P/N 41006038. Having a hard time finding a current part equivalent. Any suggestions? Is the one named above (42243506) the same??

Why does my wine cooler run too cold?

If after adjusting your thermostat to desired temp and is still cooling. The thermostat is bad or your relay is bad
If you disconnect the thermostat and the compressor stops it most likely a bad thermostat
If you disconnect the relay from
The thermostat and it stay running it is the relay. It is sticking
If possible store you wine somewhere else and shut the unit down and unplug for 10 to 20 minutes this may cause some melt of condensation some water may be on the floor if is to cold
This may also reset the system.

I have a Haier wine cooler BC112C. The compressor will not kick in (but I can hear the relay switch engaging) unless I plug and unplug the unit 4 or 5 times, then the compressor cools to the proper...

Hi!
That is probably the compressor relay
The relay is on the compressor and needs replaced
A relay starts the compressor with a higher voltage and then quickly kicks out
Thats what is happening with yours
Its best for a tech to replace The relay but you can do it
Take your model number to your Local Appliance parts store they will have a diagram
showing you how to install the relay. Its called a hard start relay

How can I check the compressor relay? Is there a way to check and see if it's working?

If it rattles when you shake it it's bad.

There are two types of relays you may encounter, wire coil and solid state. If the relay has an exposed wound wire coil it can be tested for continuity. Otherwise, the relay is of solid state design and requires specialized equipment for testing.Test the compressor relay for continuity using a multitester. Set the multitester to the ohms setting X1.
With the relay upside down, place the probes into the terminals labeled "S" and "M". The multitester should display a reading of zero ohms, indicating continuity (or if using a continuity tester, it should light up).
With the probes still in place, turn the relay over. You should hear the click of the magnetic switch engaging. The multitester should now display an ohm reading of infinity (or the tester should not light up).
Turn the relay upside down again, place the probe on the "S" terminal and place it on the side terminal labeled "L".

The multitester should now display a reading of zero ohms (continuity). Turn the relay over and the reading should change to infinity.
With the relay upside down place one probe on the "L" terminal and the other probe on terminal labeled "M".
The multitester should display a reading of zero ohms. Turn the relay over and the reading will stay the same, zero ohms.
If the compressor relay does not pass all of these tests, it should be replaced.

Clicking sound and not cooling

compressor grounded. replace relay or compressor

Jan 02, 2010 | Haier HVFM20ABB Wine Cooler

Temperature control does not work. Unit freezes everything no matter where the temperature control is set (Marvel Wine Refrigerator)

Either the thermostat itself is bad, or the relay is sticking. If you break the connection between the T-stat and the relay, and it keeps runnning, the problem is the relay.

If the compressor stops running when you break the connection or disconnect the T-stat, then the T-stat needs to be replaced.

Want to purchase relay. Can't find part locally.

The best thing to do is go to your local appliance parts warehouse and match up the relay with what they have in stock.

Be sure to briung all relevant info you might have on the unit.

That way you can ask for the RF-5600-01 to compare it before purchasing. Thats exatly what a service tech would do if you called one, only they will charge you 50 to 100 bucks to do it.

Making clicking sound motor gets hot but not cooling

Your PTC relay on the compressor is bad needs to be replaced.

First be sure to unplug cooler. Remove the cardboard cover that covers most backs of the units. Remove the plastic cover that is on the side of compressor. It is held on with a metal clip. Now you should be able to see the relay pry the relay straight off. note the wiring and position of relay. Only three prongs on compressor. Go to a parts house for appliance's and with your make and model number should be able to get a new one. Let me know if you need any more help. ken
