Question about Lexmark Printers & Copiers

6 Answers

I just took my Lexmark E210 out of storage after 3 years and my computer with windows xp doesn't recognize it. I've downloaded the E210 driver, but my computer will not acknowledge the printer. What can I do to use this printer? It will automatically print when it's turned on so I know it works.

I've used a different USB port, turned off the computer and then "plugged" it in and it will still not print.

  • cantaki Oct 05, 2008

Yes, I hear the bling bling of the USB connection putting it in and removing it.

I have another printer on this computer that I don't want to disconnect. Also, I don't have the CD for this Lexmark computer. Which of the directions you've give should I follow and not follow considering this info?

Go to printer folder >> are your printer there? If there is marked as "ready"?
If not probably you got the wrong drivers.

If you are sure that you have the right driver, uninstall the printer and install again.
Switch the usb ports.

Go to printer properties and be sure that the printer is using the "virtual USB port" and not a LPT1 port. To do that do this:

Go to Start >> Printers >> select your printer, right click >> go to properties >> go to Ports

What do you mean by " It will automatically print when it's turned on" ?

first go to printers & faxes and check if the printer is listed
if it is, cancel all documents then delete all instances of the printer
reboot

If not, click Add Hardware Wizard in control panel and let Windows search it.

Do you hear the usb bling sound when you connect the printer to usb and power it on?

ok, so the printer should be ok, remove all programs and drivers you have installed for it.

    restart the computer

    download new ones from www.lexmark.com

Download and install newest drivers available, plug in the printer when asked, restart the computer.

goto printers - Start -> control panel -> printers and faxes, make sure your printer is in ready state and is set to default, if you see more than one printer, remove the extra ones. right click the printer, properties, then find the button which says print test page.

let me know how that goes.

you should follow my solution fully as if both printers are lexmark? you can get the same software (actually newer) from the website I listed above.

Cannot get my Lexmark Z2420 printer working--it has the wi-fi capability, but trying to connect it via USB. Should be plug-and-play but windows makes a sound like it recognizes it, but nothing comes up as...

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Rebrick (pull out power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds).

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.

6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, then try to print again.

You may also try to update your printer driver by visiting the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/9xPHL4. Select your operating system, download and execute the file.

Nao consigo instalar lexmar E210 no windows 7 64 bits o driver original dela instala mais na hora de imprimir nao imprimi

Hi and welcome to FixYa

Firstly I don't speak nor write in Portuguese but I understood it so my answer is going to be in English, apologizes for that. OK now Lexmark web site says that there are no Windows 7 drivers for that printer (seems to be an old printer). So lets install the Windows XP driver in comparability mode. But first try unplugging the printer (is it USB?) wait a few seconds and plug it back in to see if Windows 7 can install the drivers by itself (remember to have the windows up to date and all the windows updates options turned ON). Then if that doesn't work for you, try the compatibility mode trick.

1. Download the XP drivers ( http://download.cnet.com/Lexmark-E210/3000-2116_4-146099.html )

2. Place the driver installation file on the Desktop.

3. Right Click the driver installation file and select Properties/Compatibility Tab. Select the appropriate options in from the list (in your case choose windows 7 64 bits).

4. Click Apply/OK.

5. Right Click the file and select the Run As Administrator option to install.

That should work if the first option I gave you don't do the trick.

Hope this information was helpful

Sincerely,

aDynamite.

You might want to uninstall the existing Lexmark X2350 driver from your computer first. Go to Start menu -> All Programs -> Lexmark X2300 Series -> Tools -> Uninstall. Reboot pc when prompted.
You can download the Lexmark X2350 driver for Windows XP (32-bit) from the Lexmark website for free. Go to this link Lexmark X2350 Driver. Download, execute the file and follow the instructions. Thanks.

Lexmark E210 on x64

Lexmark never updated the E210 driver for Windows Vista / Windows 7. Luckily, the printer is identical to the Samsung ML-1210 printer, which has better drivers that are Vista / Win 7 compatible. (The new drivers also work if the printer is connected to an XP machine, but is being shared with a Vista machine on your network.)

Go to the Samsung Support website (www.samsung.com/us/support/) and then type ML-1210 in the search box in the middle of the page. Click on the ML-1210 result, then click the "Downloads" tab, then below that, click "Drivers." Scroll down to get the correct driver for your system.

Uninstall any old drivers before installing the new drivers.

Good luck!

Lexmark E210 laser printer driver not working

I had the same problem two years ago and purchased the adaptor also .The port is correct. My adaptor never would work either. The correct answer, for me, was to purchase a Parallel port PCI card and install it.  I am still using it to this day as both the paper and the ink ribbon  on my pin printer is a lot less expensive for making copies that I don't need to be letter perfect.
