Correction: www.officestoredepot.com. You can purchase a printhead cleaning kit for $8.95. First, make sure the printer is turned on then try opening the printer and removing all the ink cartridges being careful to leave them in an upright position. Place them on a plastic bag because they will leak (be careful not to squeeze them). Close the cover. Wait one minute then open cover and replace all the cartridges making sure they all snap into place properly. Then close the cover. The lcd should then begin asking if you changed the ink. Answer yes. The printer will then begin cleaning and you should be good to go. Good luck.

Printer keeps telling me that the yellow cart is empty and I have put a new one in

Are you positive it says the yellow cart is empty? Because that brother printer is designed to say that a cartridge is empty whenever ANY of the color cartridges are empty. Usually it doesn't tell you which one is really empty either. So even if you replaced the yellow cartridge and say, the black cartridge is empty, it still won't let you print until you replace that empty black cartridge, nor will you know which of the cartridges is empty unless you pull them out of the printer and manually check the ink levels.

Its pretty much a guessing game with those old brother ink printers.

Hope this helps :)

I have replaced all the ink cartridges and my printer says "no cartridge, open scanner cover"

It is probably best to replace cartridges individually as necessary. Let me explain. The printer display will tell you when a cartridge is "xx near empty" and when "xx empty" (where xx is the cartridge color).

1) Near Empty - you can continue to print. This message is to remind you to get a new "xx" cartridge and have it on hand.

Replacing the cartridge when "Near empty" will cause the machine to report "xx Empty" when it is not. It will not register that you have replaced it at "Near empty." Wait to replace the cartridge when you get the "xx empty" message.

2) XX Empty - you may not be able to continue printing. Replace cartridge "xx" now per your manual.

If you have replaced or reseated more than one cartridge, and you get the "no cartridge" error, you need to find out which one the machine "thinks" is problematic:

1) With the scanner cover open and locked in the "Up" position, the message may change to "Change cartridge, install xx" (xx refers to the color )

2) After changing the suspected cartridge and closing the scanner cover, be sure to notice the display. It will say, "Changed XX? 1. Yes 2. No" Press 1.

If all this explanation does not work, keep it in mind for next time. Brother says to unplug the machine for at least 10 seconds, then plug it in again. If the display shows the date and time, problem solved. If not, you may need to contact brother support.

Trying to replace the empty black toner cartridge. I go through the steps to do this as outlined in the manaul. I get the screen that tells me "Please Wait." And I wait and wait and wait, and nothing...

Instead of following the directions as outlined in the manual, to have the printer turn the drum so I could extract the empty cartridge, I cut out a couple steps, by just reading the printers status display window. Followed the links that took me to where it said Replace Empty Toner Black, pressed the Menu Select button, and was given the OK to open the lid and door and replace the empty cartridge.

Unfortunately many of the All-In-One devices are like this. If the Cartridges are installed but empty the system is reading that fault code as the Cartridges not being installed. Even though you are not using the ink the printer is most likely doing a light head cleaning when it cycles. Replace teh cartridges and it should clear up.

Installed new Cartridge World Black cartridge in

You need the chip on the cartridge replaced or reset. The little circuit board on the front of the cartridge is what tells your printer that it is full or empty. You can either buy a new chip, or a resetter for around $20.00 and reset these chips in the future.

Not recognize ink cartrdige Canon 6700D

Best thing to do is just replace the the indicated ink cartridge. Reason being is that even though the cartridge still has ink in it, it is the metal contacts on the cartridge that have to communicate with the printers on-board memory. If the contacts on the cartridge are fouled and are not communicating with the printer, the cartridge is telling the printer that "I am empty and I need to be replaced", even if it is full of ink. This would apply to all six cartridges.

Replacing empty cartridges

Make sure that the cartridges you installed are compatible for your printer.

Refilling the ink could actually damage the head that is why it is not advisable to refill, this will cost you more money for printer replacement.

Reseating the ink cartridges and rebooting the whole system could do the trick.

But if not, check if ink cartridges are really defective or has dried out so you can fix a return for those lemon.

This way we can identify if you really need to replace the printer instead of jumping into conclusions right away.

Thanks.
