The only driver I found was for Win95/98 (which *might* work on W2K/WXP systems). Regardless, here's the link:

http://members.driverguide.com/director/dispatch_getfile.php?did=22567&time=1222909894&auth=87f752e9597002a0c35d794c15c41091

You *might* have to sign up for a free membership to Driver Guide, but it's worth it ...they've got EVERY kind of driver you can image :)

Hope this helps - remember to rate! :)

Where i find Sony C R X 140 E driver for x p ??? In go ogle i didn't find ... only virus ... please help me !!!

Hello friend
You don't need Sony drivers if you are using Windows !!!!!
Go here to Sony for your your cd player. http://sony.storagesupport.com/product/180
Click on the 'Dos Drivers' and read the words from there ....'NOTE: Windows operating systems have built in drivers to support your Sony CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-ROM drive as a CD-ROM reader. No additional drivers are normally required once Windows is installed and running. However, you will need additional software to make use of CD Writing and DVD Video playback if your drive supports these functions.'

I suggest you re-install Windows XP from installation disks. after backing up your personal files which you will lose.

You mentioned 'driver booster' Yes ONLY ONLY ONLY EVER download drivers from , the Manufacturers site . Sony in this case,

There are lots of rubbish sites offering drivers this and drivers that. THEY ARE ALL RUBBISH !!!!!!! DON'T EVER EVER USE THEM
I cannot stress it enough tell your friends, tell everybody.

As I say , connect up your cd player and then re-install windows xp or whatever Windows version you have. Windows will automatically install its OWN drivers for your player.

Better still friend... buy a more up-to -date dvd r/w combi.player They are really cheap these days.

Teac drivers only acknowledged in linux but dual boot ;to windows and cd dvd rom unseen to system.? system is Tosh satelite A-15 s129 with linux Ubuntu netbook 10.10 and windows xp sp3.

make sure that the cd/dvd rom is getting enough power test all leads that are attached to the dvd including electrical extensions and make sure they have a secure connection or just replace them there might be bad/faulty or
your drivers may have been corrupted or you might have a virus run your antivrus program
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd rw then plug them back in or
you might have to uninstall then reinstall your DVD/CD or uninstall the driver then reinstall for this device

My computer is saying the CD Rom is experiencing a driver problem. I've tried to apply the "fixes" but they don't seem to work. The CD drive doesn't show up when I go into My Computer. It worked...

Thank you for using FixYa.

you don't mention what version of Windows you are running. I will walk you through uninstalling your CD Drive to best determine if it actually is a problem with the driver. I will cover this procedure in XP and Vista. Windows 7 is the same as vista.

click on the start button.
in xp right click on My Computer. then select Properties on the menu. Click on the Hardware tab and then the button Device Manager. once you see the list of devices click the + sign next to DVD/CD Drives and then right click on your CD Drive and select Uninstall. Then exit out and reboot the pc.

In Vista and Windows 7 click on Start and right click on Computer. Then click on Properties on the menu and the System Properties window will open. On the left side click where it says Device Manager and if prompted click on Continue or Allow. Follow the same procedure as the xp at this point. Once the drive is uninstalled, exit out and reboot the machine.

The system will re-discover the drive and reinstall the drivers for it. If that does not work, then more than likely a faulty drive and will need to be replaced. As it will be mechanical problem and not a driver problem.

Let us know if you have further questions by using the "add a comment" link.

Thank you.

Yes, that's what it looks like. Make sure you put this in the right section next time, though.

Can this be fixed??

I'm assuming you've tried multiple CD's, DVD's, audio discs, etc with the same results... at this point, you're probably looking at a bad drive (something wrong with the electronics that's telling the computer to "eject" instead of "load") ....however, here's a trick I did once to fix this problem:

Close the CD tray, and just as it's closing, hold on to it and keep it from closing ...again, the drive's probably bad, so you're not going to hurt it...the drive will fight you for a moment, then open back up. Now try closing it again (with the button) and see if it stays this time.

If so, woo-hoo! If not, time to head to the store :)
