Wine cooler not cooling either. I even unplugged it for weeks and tried again; no luck. I can't find service repair without sending unit back to Cuisinart.

I have the same problem. I have used my wine cooler for over a year now and it stopped getting cold.

My unit is about 3 months past the 3 year warranty and is not cooling. Fan runs but wine does not get cool. Temp on door says 74 degrees, I called consumer service and they said since it is past the warranty period I had two choices.

    1. Buy a new unit. They would give me a discount on one.

    2. Find someone local that might be able to repair it. They have no clue who that might be.

Anyone come up with an answer?

Lesson- Don't buy anything that can't be repaired if it brakes.

It still works. (dec. 06 2009) The catch is that you have to pay shipping cost, 10 Dollar for the new unit and shipping and handling for the old unit back to them. Good news is that for Californians like me there are no shipping and handling cost for returns (since prohibited by law) sp I right now dont pay anything to get my new unit and the old one to them :) Happy Sunday and merry Christmas

Thermostat on wine cooler

Well, I'm not sure what your actually trying to do, but the whole purpose of a wine cooler is to cool, not to freeze and the temperature should really get no colder than 34 degrees F.

What is the best temperature for white wine to be in?

It is important to keep the wine cool and in stable temperature that doesn't fluctuate very often. Bright tart white wine: 48-52 degrees; sparkling wine: 50-55 degrees and rich white wines: 58-62 degrees.

I have my Emerson FR966T wine coller set for 60 degrees, but my cooler never seems to get the high. It always hovers around 58-59. When I heat my house up (never above 68) my cooler seems to warm up to...

Yes, because the fridge is a heat exchanger. The trade off for cooling the inside is a condenser coil on the outside which is warm. If you raise the temperature on the outside it will affect the inside a little. Having said that, the thermostat should keep the temperature within specifications. If you have it set for 60 and it is 58 or 59, to me it is within spec. The difference in 2 or 3 degrees Fahrenheit is tiny.

Also it should be pointed out this is a $63 cooler from Walmart. If you want a good one for storing thousand dollar bottles of Chateau Margeaux, you need a $600 wine cooler with a solid state digital thermostat and controls that talks to your smartphone when the temperature is one degree off..

What is the temperature setting for normal wine cooling?

It's between 55 and 65 degrees fahrenheit. If you're storing a lighter red wine, you'd want to keep it on the lower end (55 degrees). And for the darker (deep) red, you'd want to keep it on the higher end (65 degrees). All white wines should be on the lower end, and below. You can drop down to 50 degrees if you'd like. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

Stuck at 77 degrees!

Do not assume the problem is related to the compressor or the sealed, hermetic system; these types of problems happen only rarely. Your unit may have dirty condenser coils, a door that doesn't seal tightly, or a defective temperature control.
1) Check the cold control. Be sure it is set to "cold." Normally, the temperature inside the unit should be about 37 degrees Fahrenheit.

2) Listen for the freezer fan inside the freezer. When the freezer fan is running, it means the defrost timer and the cold control in the unit are both set to cool.

3) Listen for the compressor fan, where the compressor is located (typically behind or beneath the refrigerator. When the freezer fan is operating, the compressor fan should also be working (most of the time).

4) If one of the fans is not working or the compressor is off, the unit will offer very little cooling or none at all.

hope you will be helpfull..
