I seem to have a rebellious keyboard on my hands. I can be typing in Works or composing an outbound email. Suddenly, without warnng, whatever I am typing turns into completely unrecognizable jargon. It usualy lasts for approximately 10 to 15 minutes before returning to normal. My PC is a Dell as is the keyboard. My operating system is a Windows XP Home Edition. Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated.

Try to see around you if there are appliances or gadgets (e.g. cellphone) that might cause interference when you type. If there are, then place your desktop in a place free from such interference or transfer the appliance whichever is feasible.

L100 is stuck on the startup menu (black and white screen)Not ready my keyboard so cany reboot

What Startup Menu? Exactly what is on the screen? Has the computer completely booted to your Windows Desktop so that you see your icons and the Start Menu at the bottom left portion of the screen? if so why are you trying to use the keyboard? I think you should be using your mouse to point an click on something, then use the keyboard if needed.

Maybe your keyboard has gone bad and needs to be replaced. What type of keyboard connection do you have PS2 (serial) or USB? A USB keyboard has the square flat end that plugs into the computer, it can be pulled out and plugged back into the computer anytime because it is Plug and Play. The PS2 (serial) keyboard has a round end that plugs into the purple port in the computer. IT IS NOT PLUG AND PLAY. If you unplug it while the computer is on, your computer will freeze and not recognize the keyboard. You have to reboot anytime you unplug the PS2 (serial) type of keyboard.

Anyway, if your keyboard is frozen then maybe a virus or infection has hijacked it. Try booting into Safe Mode and see if it works.

Go to www.google.com and in the search box type:"download.cnet.com" (without the quotes). Click the link to goto the site and look on the left side when the site opens up and you will see agray area that says FIND SOFTWARE. In the white search box under FindSoftware type: "Virtual Keyboard" (without the quotes) and click themirror to search. When the search results come back look for FREE VIRTUALKEYBOARD. Download and Install it. It's totally FREE. Alsouncheck anything that pops up other than the license agreement during thedownload and installation. You only want the Free Keyboard and not theother junk.

You can use it to solve your keyboard problem. Just open up whatever it is youwant to type on such as the web address in an browser, a word document, etc.,then open the Free Virtual Keyboard and it will sit on top of whatever you weredoing. You can move it around so that it is not in your way also.

Keyboard not typing properly when pressing

When pressing what? Maybe the keyboard has been hijacked by a virus or infection. Maybe the keyboard is going bad.

Have you tried booting up in Safe Mode to see if the keyboard acts the same way?

Your keyboard USB cord has probably become loose. Try reseating the cable into another USB port, or just reseating it if the keyboard uses a keyboard cord.
If this doesn't work, try a different keyboard (if you have another one around the house).
You may have either a bad USB port, dirty port, or bad keyboard.
please rate my solution!
