Lexmark X73 is on my hardware and when attempting to print the printer will not respond. The CPU was removed to fix another issue and the printer was re attached again but does not respond. Pls. advise & thanks

Hi, you can check for communication between your printer and your desktop. You may want to uninstall your printer driver and let windows search for your hardware. If it does recognize it, your printer is ok and you may just have to reinstall your printer driver. If it doesn't work, you may inspect your printer's cable for damage and change if defective.

Your printer's rollers sound like they are worn along the paper path. I suggest you taking your printer in to have a maintenance cleaning or have the rollers replaced. This will resolve your issues.

When you say that your all-in-one system will copy, but will not print from the computer, this tells me that there could be a connection problem between the printer and the computer. This is more then likely a driver problem. you will need to go to lexmark and download the latest drivers for your operating system.
But this could also be a broken or loose cable.

My printer will not print with my new computer. I installed the drivers. Now it says my printer is offline.


go to device manager look for other devices remove lexmark XXXX printer , select refresh or search for new hardware.........reinstall drivers.

How do I get Lexmark X73 to work with my Windows Vista?


I read the Lexmark guide. It says that to began printing, you must remove a sticker and a transparent tape from the bottom of the ink cartridges. My question is " how do I remove the cartridges to check to see if the cartridges are correct"?

Unable to print


With the Lexmark printers communication subsystem you MUST let the driver ask for you to plug in the printer. DO NOT plug the printer into the USB port until told to do so.

To fix a fouled install :
(1) Uninstall the Lexmark drivers in Add Remove Programs
(2) Shutdown the computer
(3) Disconnect the printer from the USB port
(4) Restart the computer
(5) Run the Driver Installation software
(6) Cancel ALL attempts by windows to auto install the printer
(7) When the sofware asks for the printer connect it and continue

push the paper a little bit to help the printer to pull it correctly if not working then there is a problem with the rollers and that would be a hardware issue and needs to be fixed at the shop.

Sorry the hardware of the printer is not compact able with vista ,it wont work,as there no driver for vista by lexmark ...

Cannot print unless I turn off computer and then reboot.


I'm not a big fan of Lexmark in general in part due to their software and drivers. For me this type of behavior from their printers/software became common about a year ago, the fix being to use the more generic Windows supplied printer drivers. I would suggest that you uninstall all software the printer installed and remove all of the printers print queue(s)including any associated with the fax function. Unplug the printer USB cable from the computer, reboot your PC and reinstall the printer from scratch using your original installatin CD.
