Floor model SONY Trinitron problem

hey everyone. if anyone can just help me out for a min i have a 32 in. floormodel sony trinitron . for about 3 months now i have been having problems with my picture going out for 3 sec at different times:

1.when there is too much white or blue in the picture it flashes faster then whithout them.

2.when i turn on the tv the picture stays black for around 8 min after that the picture comes on and starts to flash in and out aka #1.


i bought this tv from my family and have had it for a few years i really dont want to get another one if it can be fixed. anyone who thinks that they know what this is please! post your thoughts.

p.s. no other problems with the tv....i think its about 5 or six years old.
