Question about Apple MacBook PC Notebook

Open Question

Support I'm doing a report for school on Apple software. We're suppose to find what kind of help desk you have, what is your mission, is there a fee, does the help desk provide pre-sales support as well as post-sales support? How does the help desk say it delivers services. Can you call in for support, do you come to the homes?

Serial # is W86161RLVJ3. What kind of USB installed?

Click on the Apple in the top left corner of the screen.
Then click on "About this Mac"
Then click on "System Report"
On the left side of that screen just above Network, you should see USB. Clicking on it should bring up a full report on your USB.

How do you unblock facebook from school laptop?

Usually blocks are set by the school system administrator and cannot be unblocked because you do not have administrative privileges. Schools do this to avoid problems with FB and other social networking sites because they own the computers, and could face liability issues if there were problems caused by accessing those sites. Sorry...

Does the mac come with a program for typing papers?

There are scores of downloadable word processing programs for the MACBOOKS that are free from CNET.com Google has online programs that emulate Microsoft office format as does Openoffice.org. I would suggest looking at them for no cost solutions, especially if you are going to print out hard copies of documents only or need to collaborate over the web.

However if you want compatible documents, or ones that are able to be shared with others possibly not on MAC platform, like professors on Windows, etc. then you will need to purchase Microsoft Office for MAC. Check with your school as well. If they are on the MAC platform many times the school will provide the software via an enterprise license agreement with Apple/Microsoft. If in the end you have to foot the bill for the program and load it physically, be sure and get the educator discount, it substantially cuts the cost. You can do a search at Microsoft.com or Apple.com for the online purchase options and use EDUCATOR or STUDENT as keywords.

Why my ibook cannot boot to desktop.but only stop at the grey apple display

What is happening is the mach kernel is hanging during bootup. This is likely caused by a kernel panic. Boot-time kernel panics are caused by the following things:
  1. A botched software update
  2. A badly behaving hardware device
  3. Flaky RAM memory.
  4. You are WAAAY too low on free disk space.
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report if it says anything but Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need to use a utility like Tech Tool Pro or Disk Warrior

If you can make it this far, it is likely that your hard disk and the majority of your computer hardware are functioning correctly and your issue is software related.

WONT TURN ON

Most laptop batteries die from being left plugged in to power all the time. It's a good idea to run it from battery as much as possible.

Try removing the battery and running it on the power supply only. If this works you need a new battery.

MacBook Air sound/disappeared

This is a widespread hardware issue with the MacBook Air. You are not alone. See:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1736638&tstart=15
Some users report that replacing the Audio Board Flex Cable corrects the problem, but others report that the correction is only temporary.
If your machine is still under warranty, I would get it back to an Apple repair facility immediately. If it is not, you will still need to get it to a repair facility, but bring along the above URL and suggest that Apple treat it as a warranty extension issue.

What should i do?

There currently are no Apple tablet PC's (at least made directly by Apple).
Wireless internet works... wirelessly via the notebook's built in WIFI card.  If you are talking about a cellular connection, then monthly fee's definitely would apply.
