Alarm light flashing. Error message on screen reads: Check printer. Press Resume Key.
When I do that the screen reads: Please wait
then goes back to the original error message.

    Any suggestions?

Ink tanks are almost full. When cover is opened, I do notice that the print head and inkwell do not reposition in the center -whether that's relevant or not

    I have the same problem

  • Oldman Winte Jan 28, 2009

Yeah I got the exact same thing no clue what to do.

I got it from a friend who hadn't used it in a while but it seems unresponsive.
Just flashes orange warning. Does exactly what the OP said.

The status monitor keeps trying to collect the printer status but never gets anywhere.

Same problem. Alarm. it says "put in cartridge." I have put in new cartridges. hit resume, restarted, ? nothing

The print cartridge doesn't move across the machine when I open it, and it doesn't print black ink. It works in Color copy mode. Talked to Canon and they told me to unplug it, remove the cartridge then wait 2 minutes and put it all back together and plug it in again. After this I was able to print one document and then it stopped printing again. Repeat. Repeat. Any ideas?

Press the round button on the left side of the front console, if there's any information to be had it will be displayed on the display.

How does the bulb look? Is it bright or kind of dim. The bulb warming error is designed to halt use of the machine until the scanner bulb reaches the correct output level. As these are basically a flourescent tube, they will dim over time and at a certain point they will not generate enough light to enable proper scanning. If the bulb is dim, it will require replacement.
