Re: Need to know where the additional memory slot is on...
Its at the base of the laptop under a screw, generally in the very center. You may find the Hard Drive or CPU but the RAM looks like a small chip plugged in sideway. Try not to touch any of the components before you are sure you don't have any static on you. it could destroy the device.
You have to make sure you get the same RAM as the one currently in there. for example PC6400, you must get another PC6400. Try and get ram the same brand and chip. It will still work if its different but not as good.
By default your Laptop has only 40GB, you should upgrade that too if you want to. If you do, you will need to reinstall Windows.

Get a second set of dual channel RAM from somewhere and test it in the slots and see if it still gives you the same error code. But most likely it will and you'll need to RMA the motherboard as the RAM slots are most likely BAD.
Even without any way to check the specs of your motherboard with the current information, the board will most likely have at least 2 slots available for additional memory (i am assuming by memory you mean RAM), and will support DDR, PC-3200. If you have two slots, then you're looking at a limit of 2Gb (2x1GB PC3200) because DDR modules don't get any bigger than 1Gb as far as i've seen. If you have 4 slots, then a total of 4Gb.
If you know what mother board you have you could check what RAM it can use.
All RAM is installed in the same way, but different types of RAM are keyed differently. That basically means that one type of RAM (for example SD RAM) will simply not fit into another type of RAM slot (for example a DDR RAM slot).
To install ram on a PC Please note - do NOT touch the connector side of the RAM, handle it only by holding the side or top edge 1. check that you have the right type of RAM. do this by lining up the RAM above the RAM slot and making sure that the RAM is the same length as the RAM slot AND ALSO that the RAM's key (the little hole or notch in the RAM) lines up with the key in the RAM slot. Note there might be more than one key 2. open both clips of the RAM slot by pushing them down and out from the center of the RAM slot 3. gently insert the RAM into the RAM slot 4. check again that the RAM and the RAM slot's key's line up, if they do, firmly press down on the RAM on both corners until both clips automatically click shut on the RAM
If you have extra memory or removable Ram ( usually located on the bottom under a panel) Try removing it and starting it, with the ram removed. Then try putting it back in and starting it. If it works, it may be bad memory or it just needed to be reseated. Do this also with the cd drive and wireless card if it is removeable.
also try this with the battery, plug it in and remove the battery and see if it starts.
alot of laptops, like computers will not boot if there is a hardware issue.
The Beeping is a code. The number of beeps and how it beeps usually indicates an issue.
you could look the beep codes up on the toshiba website is the support center.
Maximum HP/Compaq approved memory is 4 GBIt has to be the same.
• If you are replacing a memory module, put the
new memory module in the same memory slot
from which the old memory was removed.
• If you are adding a memory module, install the
new module into the socket nearest the
preinstalled module, and install additional
modules in the next available sockets
The core2 duo chips will be a different socket to your celeron cpu so can do that unfortunately. You may be able to upgrade to a faster cpu of the same socket type but will probably need a bios update for it to run at proper speed.
Unfortunately laptops arent really designed to be upgraded at all bar extra ram/hd/dvdrw.
