Question about Samsung Televison & Video

My DLP television (model 507W) is making a high pitched noise. It sounds like medal on medal. My guess is that it is the fan. You can hear it come up to speed when the TV is turned on and trail off when the TV is turned off.

There does not seem to be an easy way to access the fan other than taking the whole back of the 507W off. Can I access it by taking the lamp out first?

    Please advise,

    Thanks

You cannot access the fan without taking the whole back of the TV off and accessing to the internal board, where the fan is located.

However a squealing high pitched noise of this kind it is more likely from the color wheel that is located behind the lamp, rather than the fan.

Inspect the color wheel, if that is the problem replace it.

If there is dust inside hoover it with a small battery powered hoover, a regular hoover can damage the components, breaking their on board contacts.

Be careful while you handle th lamp, that is an expensive replacement.

The easiest way will be to take the whole back off unless you are good with electronics and know how to re-solder the connection to the lamp once you take it out. It will be less work if you just take the back off and check the fan motor. Blow on it to remove any lingering dust and either spray some wd-40 or put some grease in the motor where there are parts that could rub together. Also make sure the fan blade is not rubbing against anything. That could be causing it to make that noise also.

This should work with stopping the noise.

Please check noisy fan at back of TV and remove out then open it and put few drops of machine oil in its bush hole. Noise will stop.

It could also be the fan motor as something like dust is blocking the motor to run at its normal speed.so check it and get it repaired.

many times cleaning the fan and the motor works but some time you will have to change the motor to make it proper as orignal as it was before.

If its a high pitched or fan like sound (but not a fan) it may be the color wheel going out.

Samsung dlp tv HLP5663W makes loud noise

Yes, the set uses a color wheel and the lamp faces it.

The wheel turns at over 8,000 rpm and is well known for this problem=bearings in the tiny motor go bad.

The high pitched or fan like noise (classic description) is this part.

Sooner or later the wheel (plastic colored segments) will shatter and set will shut down lamp and not operate---set monitors the speed of the wheel so if it slows down or stops it knows.

The part is readily available on the internet (Google the model number with "color wheel").

This can be a do it yourself repair and You Tube has video instructions for replacing the wheel by model number.

There are two common pitfalls to avoid which the instructions that come with the replacement part usually do not mention---if you decide to do this repair let me know and I will explain.

My toshiba mod. 52hm95 lamp cooling fan is making noise and i am having trouble locating a replacement

Fan like noise may be a fan or the color wheel---color wheel spins at high speed(lamp faces it) and when failing you will have a high pitched or fan like sound---hard failure and you will hear a grinding sound.

I have Samsung DLP TV 50 inch HL-P5063W

First thing to look at is the color wheel this model uses--usually it will make a high pitched fan like sound but can make a grinding sound also.

If it slows down from the 12,000 or so RPM speed it will cause color issues.

HAVE GRINDING OR HIGH PITCHED SOUND?

Why does it make a buzzing sound

The buzzing sound could be a color wheel (high pitched or fan like) or the lamp and or Ballast.

Try to describe it more and do you hear it with the sound muted or off?

My 62 h m 15 dlp toshiba television makes a humming noise . It quiets down after a couple minutes but I'm wondering what it is

These sets used a color wheel and before they fail they will make a fan like or high pitched whine----if the sound is there and you turn the set off you should hear it slow down before stopping.

Most of these the wheel is not sold and is only available with the light engine which is a rather expensive part.

Hi, bearings in color wheel are about to fail, get it fixed now before the wheel shatters the prisms all over the inside of the tv which of course will then cost you more to fix, video-tek
