Question about Dell TrueMobile 2300 Wireless Router (tm23003)

1 Answer

Loss of connection at short distance

I just purchased an hp pavilion dv7. If i am 5 feet from my truemobile i have no problems at all, but if i move another 10 feet or so away i lose my connection. I checked my network and sharing center and it tells me that the signal strength is very good, but i still do not have a wireless connection. I spoke to the hp tech support and they tell me i have to change some settings on my laptop to get it to work correctly with my wireless point but that i would have to call the router manufacturer to find out how. I called dell and they could not have been less helpful. If anyone has any ideas on how to solve the problem i would greatly appreciate some input.

Make sure you dont have wireless devices (running in 2.4ghz) that sits beside your dell router.

Ex. Cordless phone (2.4ghz)
microwave oven (2.4ghz)
baby monitor (2.4ghz)
other wireless devices running in 2.4ghz

If you have other wireless computer working, then try to install updated driver to your HP laptop.

Hope it will help..

How do I calibrate my stanley laser level

to calibrate you need to have an area 75 to 100 feet in distance. place laser on tripod 20 feet from one end, take measurements on short and long end, then move laser to center of range and take measurements on both ends . the distance between both sets of marks should be within + or - 1/4 inch if not move level screw to move beam to center then center bubble

If the distance to run my electrical power is 100 feet is a #6 wire still good?

Hi .. That depends on the amperage that you are needing .. if the run is 100 feet or more it is best to increase the wire size to reduce the amount of voltage loss. The voltage loss will mostly effect any motors that you have opperating on this power. So with out the details, I would say that you should use the next size wire . #4 or greater.

I lose the signal from my 2300 if I move past 30 feet away from it. What can I do to increase the signal distance?

Things that will affect the range on a Wireless router signal are signal strength, and a big factor to this is the antenna you use. The small antenna that comes with the router normally offers around "Up to 100m" indoors and "Up to 450m" outdoors (open range) range, router to computer, and replacing this antenna with a higher gain directional antenna pointed towards your laptop would normally be a way to improve this signal. Router login involves using web browser and going to and login is admin as well as the password of admin ... unless you have changed it! At any rate, if all antennas are correctly attached the router to computer distance would not be a problem. Check antenna connection, replace if all secure and still have low signal strength. Please let me know the outcome of the repair efforts? Thank you.

At what frequency does this router work? The signal is typically very weak at a distance of twenty feet. My cordless phone experiences second-long interruptions when I use it in the part of the house...

This can very well be the case. The Dell TrueMobile 2300 Wireless Broadband Router is an 802.11b/g wireless access point, which means it operates in the 2.4 GHz spectrum. This is the same frequency that normal cordless phones and microwaves utilize.

See also this solution I posted regarding low signal strength.

There are two other ways to avoid interference. You can either change your network to the newer 802.11n standard or exchange your cordless phone to a system that operates in the 5.8 GHz range. I personally went the second way some time ago, because it was less expensive to buy a new phone system (good ones cost ~ 50$) than to exchange my router and all wireless network cards (~ 150$).

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

Onkyo tx-sv727 Protect displayed

first thing if it says protect, check the fuses inside the system they may of blown .When choosing wire gauge, consider the quality of your components and speakers, the overall sound quality you're trying to achieve, and the budget you're working with. Also, keep in mind the distance between your receiver or amp and your speakers long wire runs can cause significant power losses, and thus require thicker cable. You can use this as a guideline
Distance from speaker to amplifier Gauge
Less than 80 feet 16
80 to 200 feet 14
More than 200 feet 12
