Question about Bosch Washing Machines

4 Answers

Model 2100 about 4-5 years old. When I turn on any wash cycle, the water seems to fill, then immediately drains back out. I can also put it on a spin cycle, but it won't spin, I can just hear the pump or something cycling, but not the motor. No error codes. Also, sometimes it will run a while into the cycle and then just stop and stay on the same time which it stopped on. I checked and cleaned the front cleanout, checked water-supply inlet filters, drain hoses, belt... all ok. Can you help?

What exactly does "the transmission is outcasing the pump" mean? I wasn't aware that front loaders had transmissions. IF SO, EXPLAIN HOW TO FIX, or could it also be something else?
    Thanks

Most of the solutions given are for top loaders. Mine is a Bosch 2100 front-loader. Do you have any more detailed solutions for this particular model?

Makes sense, I'll troubleshoot according to your drain-valve recommendation.
    Thanks

I unplugged, bypassed the drainage valve, seemed to make no difference. Also the motor did run momentarily (both directions) so it must be ok. One other thing I did notice is that when I start the wash cycle and the water starts to fill, it only fills for 10 or 15 seconds, not even enough water to come up to the bottom of the tub level, then of course, the drainage valve kicks on and drains it out.?????

Could this be a circuit board problem? No error codes though.

Could the circuit board be faulty and causing these eratic cycles?

Q - My washer seems to keep filling with water, the water keeps coming in the washer and going out the drain without the washer motor running.
A - This often is a drain hose that is too low or a drain hose that has been pushed too far down inside the stand pipe....the water is actually siphoning out of the washer. Do not "seal" the drain hose to the house plumbing pipe, this will also allow the water to be siphoned

Hi, from your description of the problems, it seems that the drainage valve is on. This is an electronic valve.
Seems that the valve is faulty and you may have to fix it. The best way is to get a technician to fix it.
It also explains the spin cycle problem, as spin cycle doesn't start untill all the water are drained by the drainage/outlet valve.

or the spin cycle doesnt start if the valve is always open.

Hi,

If your washer won't spin, check these:

It doesn't pump or spin
It pumps, but doesn't spin
It spins only with the lid closed
It doesn't pump or spin If it doesn't pump water out or spin, check to see if the motor is running, then proceed as follows:

  • If the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley or a broken pump belt. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it. If the pump belt is broken or looks quite worn, replace it--but be sure to check the pump pulley before you change the belt.

  • If the motor isn't running, the lid switch may be defective. If so, the washing machine can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

It pumps, but doesn't spin If your washer pumps out the water but doesn't spin, check these:

  • The lid switch may be defective. If it is, the washing machine doesn't spin. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

  • The motor coupler may be broken. Many Whirlpool®-manufactured washers use a small, relatively inexpensive motor coupling. It's plastic and rubber and is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. You may need to replace it.

  • A belt may be broken. Many washing machines have one or two belts. If a belt is broken or badly worn, you need to replace it with a genuine belt from the manufacturer. (Some washing machine belts are designed with special characteristics not found in automotive belts.)

  • The clutch may be worn. If your washer is a GE, it may use a clutch to come up to the proper spin speed. As the clutch wears out, it may prevent the unit from spinning well or at all. If the clutch is worn, you need to replace it. For this job, you probably want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician.

  • The drive motor may be defective. Many washer brands use a reversing motor. For agitation the motor runs in one direction, for spinning and draining, the other. It's possible for a motor to burn out in one direction and continue to operate in the other. If this happens, you need to replace the entire motor.

  • The transmission may not be shifting properly. Older washers produced by Whirlpool® have a transmission with an electro-mechanical shifter. If the shifter becomes even partially defective, the unit may drain the water but not spin. This is a complex system, if your washer has a shifter problem, you may want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician to repair it.

  • The spin bearing or basket drive may be worn or seized. These components allow the inner tub to spin freely inside the outer tub. When this is the problem, you usually hear a loud sound during the spin cycle. Call a qualified appliance repair technician.

It spins only with the lid closed For safety, washing machines are made so that they spin only with the lid closed. The lid switch prevents the spinning action when the lid is up.

Have a look for coins etc stuck in the drain pump or the tub outlet hoses especially where they fit onto the tub. If a coin or other foreign material blocks the water flow when draining , these machines wont spin properly.

most likely the water valve is faulty. The inlet water valve is at the end of the fill hoses. trace your way to it and get a new one and replace it. Before you do check the inlet filter is not blocked. good luck

Doesnt agitate or spin.

Mine is 1 1/2 years old and this worked for me

unplug from power for at least 30 seconds

turn the dial to spin but don't pull out

plug back in to power and open and shut completely so switch is engaged solidly 11 times in 15 seconds.

pull out knob to turn on

This should clear a error code.

hope it helps!

Frigidaire washing machine gets stuck on cycles

The cycle doesn't advance When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

Help me to wash!!

hi

this sounds like a syphoning problem this means the outlet /drain pipe at the back of the machine has been pushed to far into the drain upstand pipe causing the water to syphon straight through the machine make sure that the drain pipe is only part way down the drain pipe, hope this works for you
