Picture tube removial

First look at the High voltage lead, this should be near the top centre a cap about 3' across. Next get 2 flat blade screwdrivers. On the dome of the tube there is black spray paint. This is conductive aquadag, find a spot and hold the blade of one screwdriver touching that. Now cross the shaft of that driver with the other one so that the blade can be slipped under the top cap, make sure you are on the handles not the metal shaft. Once you are certain you have touched the centre pin and it has been earthed to aquadag you can remove the top cap. If you are getting rid of the tube you must make it safe, wear goggles remove the tube base panel to reveal the tube pins. Now go back and re-short the top cap as it may have rebuilt a charge. Now with the screwdriver try to get the plastic bit at the end of the tube to slip off, once off you will see the tube has a short pipe which has been melted to seal it. with the blade of one screwdriver on this Gently tap this with the gandle of the other, increase the tap force till you just crack the glass, DO NOT WHACK IT. If it is too difficult to slip the plastic off you can go through it to the nipple.
