Its RAM maxes out at 4GB. The ms2285 is the midrange computer in the NV53 series. It either shipped with 2GB RAM or 4GB RAM. If it shipped with 4GB, it's already maxed out. Otherwise, you can add 2GB to it now.
Hi Anon
the Gateway MX8734 motherboard has two memory slots each capable of handling a maximum of 2gb of ram.
So, 2gb is the largest single ram module, and 4gb is the largest total amount of ram.
If you are uncertain if your motherboard is capable of handling a 4gb ram upgrade then check with the memory suppliers first.
In practice I have always found that the performance difference between 2gb and 4gb of ram is slight.
yes, there may be compatibility problem. your 2GB ram may be dead. try your 2gb ram on other notebooks. if it is working on other notebooks, then your ram is ok. your notebook will support maximum 2GB ddr2 memory per slot. your notebook may not be booting due to unsupported frequency of your ram. maximum supported frequency for your notebook may me 400Mhz, and you are putting a 667MHz ram into it. try to put a 400MHz 2GB ddr2 ram in your notebook.
Memory Type: DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 PC3-8500, DDR3 (non-ECC) Maximum Memory: 2GB Slots: 1 Each memory slot can hold DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 PC3-8500 with a maximum of 2GB per slot.* *Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.
Hi, defending on your cpu board usualy there are two slots, also if your board capable to 1 gigabytes memory, if your memory is DDR u can add 1 GB up . if your memory is SD you cannot add higher than 712 MB. if your memory is 512 and you want to add 1GB the total should be 1.5 you are correct in your calculation. thanks
Hello
Number of Slots:4
Slot 1
Slot 2
Slot 3
Slot 4
Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 PC2-6400 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.
Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory
Good Luck, and do rate the solution if got help
Max memory is 2GB, i.e. 1GB per slot(DIMM), so you will need 2 X (SimpleTech 1 GB PC3200 400MHz DDR RAM). {Always use matched pairs only} Visit this link : http://www.simpletech.com/upgrades/gateway/700x/700xddrintelp428ghz/ .................sodeep
If you mean a Gateway 420GR (there's no "420R" listed on their site), then you can have up to 4GB of RAM and you can use 1GB modules. Here's a link to the specs page on their site: http://support.gateway.com/s/PC/R/4053/4053sp3.shtml
copy and paste the link into your browser. If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it. Thanks, Joe
