Hi,
The step , you can do to check if the problem is with the computer tower or only the monitor is
1. Unplug the signal cable ie connected from the monitor to the computer tower.
If the lines are still there after disconnection of the signal cable there could be a problem with the monitor.
2. If the lines go away , try reseating the cable and check

Thanks

No...don't change settings through the BIOS. Start\Control Panel\Display...to change your settings. If you have NVidia, then you can make the changes in the NVidia Control Panel.

COMPUTER HARD DRIVE SHUTS OFF WITHOUT TURNING OF COMPTER.

1) Go to Control Panel (Located on the start menu).
2) Then double click on Power Options.
3) The Power Options Properties window shall now open.
4) You will see a section called Settings for x power scheme, the x depends on which scheme is enabled.
5) Click on the down arrow to the right of Turn off hard disks: And set this to Never.

This should stop you hard disk from shutting off while your computer is still on. If you need any further help just add a comment.

The internal audio on my Acer travelmate 2300 has stopped working ever since i plugged some compter speakers into it.. afterwards i got rid of the speakers and tried to get the original audio working,...

What error message do you get when you try to change the audio options? I assume you are getting an error message because You're noting that the computer won't allow you to change the options.
1) reboot, which I'm sure you have done.
2) answer my question and write back.

I have just bought a maxtor basiss external portable hard drive and i have connected to my computer. what is the next step to use as my compter is running out of space on the c:drive? thanks

Transfer all your Music to the new drive first, just go to My Music open up the folder and select all, hit edit, move to folder and select the new drive, this should open up a considerable amount of space. If you haven't defraged your hard drive in a while this would also be a good time to do that. Hit the start button right click on My Computer/Manage/Disk Defragmenter select your C: and hit the analyze button, this will take a considerable amount of time to complete but your computer will thank you for it. Hope this helped.

My kensington optical2.0 wireless mouse will not work on my toshiba sattelite 300 series vista home premium after downloading driver

please follow the follwing steps:

1. remove the device from the computer.

2.remove unkown devices from the compter. follow steps.
a) select the compter icon on the desktop and right click and select manage.
b) select device manager.
c) look for heading usb devices or unkown devices. if there are unkown devices in your compter that selection tree would be open. just select select the unkown devices and click delete. confirm the same.

3) post deleting all unkown devices, reboot your laptop.
now keep the driver disk handy which came along with the mouse or the driver you have downloaded., preferablly install the driver if its an executable file before connecting the device, other wise save the file to your desktop and ensure the driver is not in a zip or a rar archive, please extract the same.

4) connect the device, the compter would search the driver, failing to find the driver compter would ask for the options. select that you have the disk under advanced option. select the driver you have download and it would show you the device and please continue the installation with the same driver.

You are done... your device would work then.
