Question about Philips DVDR3575H/37

Power surge Had a power surge during a storm last night. The DVDR and a satalite box were left on and both will not come on this morning. My hope is that there is some kind of internal fuse that might protect the unit during a bad power event.

Does the Memorex MVD2040 have a fuse that can be replaced? We had a power outage in my area during a storm recently. After the power came back on, my DVD player would not turn on, as if it was not...

Yes there is a fuse!

They are no longer ones that you can change yourself.

Would be best to call a service shop and get an estimate of repair for a blown fuse replacement or my thought is this storm took out the power supply.

If it's a cheep DVD player it would be better to go out and buy a new one or upgrade to the newer Blue Ray player.

Had a snow thunder storm last night and now the unit won't work - any ideas - is it fixable?

This will be a temporay issue curable once all the snow has melted away from the transmitters and/or any damage caused by the storm is repaird.
Unless you had the unit outside IN the snow storm there would be no reason for it to be physically broken itself..

After the storm last night, my tv on off light blinks but nothing else is happening, can you help i am a widow on a fixed pension and live alone with my dog - i love this tv but cannot afford expensive...

Try unplugging it, waiting a few minutes then plugging it back it. Then turn it on. You may have to reset any particular settings you had. If it doesnt start up then you may have received a spike during the storm and fried the board or worse. You can pick up a used TV cheap now days at garage sales for 10 or 20 bucks!

Cannot read disc

call support from manufacturer on how to reset your player,
For instance, on Samsung players after it is powered on you hold in both channel buttons for 10 sec and the player restarts. essentialy like rebooting a computer.... that fixed mine that had the same problem

The electronic procedure:
Switch off the unit at the wall plug. On the front panel, hold in the <RECORD> and <EJECT> buttons at the same time, and keeping them held, switch on the power at the wall again. Keep holding the buttons until the disc tray opens.

No power

take off the cover of the dvd there is a plastic that has a metal round in shape in the middle .it has two screws at both end take out the screws and lift it up the plastic it is pretty hard to lift up due to the magnet on the metal but with effort it will come up, after it has lift up you can then take out the dvd.take it then to the tech as the dvd is having problem in the power supply good luck.

Nothing happening

Are you sure it was a surge protector and not just a power strip? They look the same. Just a thought =)
