SkyCaddie SG4 - can't direct connect in last 2 weeks; was working fine until then. Tried on VISTA and XP systems, just don't work. I tried the fix listed, control panel, system, device mamager, modem things; the driver is not listed, the one listed does not have ! or yellow color anything. Can't find the driver. Help please, have some IT background but I can't fix this one. Have uninstalled and reinstalled. Can anyone help. Or should I try to send it back.
Turn your power cable/connection cable over. You are connecting it wrong. When connecting it to the back of the SkyCaddie, make sure the cord it going down towards the battery, not up. That will fix your issue.

I've located the download page for the CaddieSync desktop application for your SkyCaddie SG4 GPS. Simply visit this link: http://www.skygolf.com/skygolf/Membership/Owners.aspx and you should find the download. You'll need to select the Mac option and then choose SG4 for the model. Remember: don't connect your device to the computer until after you have the software installed.
Ran into this problem last night. Was trying to update software on Skycaddie. According to computer, everything finished. However, my skycaddie was displaying UPDATE PROGRAM VER 00.13 (B) Ready to Begin. Tried to reload last application as stated in earlier post. PC could not fine skycaddie.
Gave up and called customer service this morning. Only took a few minutes to get a live rep on the phone. He e-mailed me a link to execute that allowed him access to my computer. He tried to reload the last application as well, same result. He then ran an update program via a website, program found my skycaddie and was successfully updated. Whole process took less than five minutes.
I was fearing having to send my unit in for repair.
Contacted SkyGolf directly and they were very helpful. It was a simple software reset accomplished in two steps:
On the TOOLS pulldown menu, select RELOAD, then select RELOAD LAST APPLICATION, which in my case was the latest firmware update (ver 2.2). They (SkyGolf Tech Support) also accesses your computer remotely via a HS Internet Connection and can do the entire process for you.
It then reset the last update program, which had stalled (causing the lock-up) and then all I had to do was reinstall the latest update, disconnect the Skycaddie and do a GPS RESET outside where it can capture the satellites, then do another SYNC to get it back where it was before the problem began.
I was very thankful that it did not require sending the unit in for repair or replacement.
Additionally, the newest firmware update adds SCORING capabilities to the SG4, which I think is cool.
Make sure your cord is plugged into the SkyCaddie with the cord pointing down towards the battery, not going up. It makes sense and it is easier to plug in with the cord going up, but you will eliminate this error if you plug in the cord with the cord going up.
This may sound crazy but I had the cable connected incorrectly (I was getting a message that my Sky Caddie SG4 was unrecognized). When connected the cable correctly (to the back of the SG4) the cable wire should be pointing down.
please check your power y cable cord the comes with the sg3/4 units. they have teeth or tabs on it near the screw and they tend to break if it slips while the person is trying to screw it in. that will cause the unit to not connect no more and they will need to replace it, but please don't use a broken power y cable, it will cause it to slide around and shorten it out. most of the time this occurs after the person had it for awhile or they screw it in too tight and over time that will strip it out and cause it to no longer to screw in...
