I have obtained an old color tv with large screen.
it has discolorated right side of screen and upper left corner. when i display menu with blue background, the right side goes green and the left corner goes purple/red.
Replacing thermistor and 10 cold starts didn't help. So what can cause it?????? This tv has replaced flyback. I think someone unqualified turned some pots in V and H deflection circuits. can this cause discoloration?
Or what about higher/lower high voltage (maybe bad flyback
replacement,but picture seems not to be larger or smaller)?
I was told that the speakers can cause this, but i think this annoying discoloration can't be from factory...

Please dont glue magnets on the tube it will finish the thing off, check the yoke is not in the wrong place. With the set off catch the yoke at both sides on its widest point and see if there is any play up and down, if there is, slacken the screw holdin

Check If the degaussing circuit work first.With a PC Monitor besides the unit,turn on the power(unit under test),if the circuit is working,you will notice that effect on PC monitor's screen.If Ok then do what sidney said. good luck

Maybe the picture tube was jolted meaning the tv was probably dropped and the crt took the hit instead of the main pcb board.Try glueing round quarter sized thick STRONG magnets to the back of the crt near the degaussing coil where the magnetic field of the magnets offest for the discoloration or purity changes.
