Test atx-300-12e power supply

Remove the switch mode power supply from the computer.
You need the pin out details of the 20 pin connector from this WEB site.
http://pinouts.ru/Power/atxpower_pinout.shtml.
You will also need a multimeter to test the 4 pin connectors for the 5 and 12 volts.
Connect a hard drive to one of the 4 pin power connectors, this will provide a load on the power supply when it is powered up.
Connect the mains power to the switch mode power supply and if the switch mode has a switch on the back then switch it to the ON position.
Straighten a paper clip to form a U shape and insert one end of the paper clip into pin14 and the other end into pin 15 or 16 or 17 (ground). This is the same connection/switch on the power button on the front panel of your computer.
You can now measure the voltage on the 4 pin connectors for 5 volts (red and black wire) and 12 volts (yellow and black wire).
If you don't get these voltages then the switch mode power supply is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Whirlpool Dryer Various Test Procedures - Part 1

TEST #1 Supply Connections
This test should only be done after confirming proper voltage at the outlet.
1. Unplug dryer or disconnect power.
2. Remove the cover plate from the back of the dryer.
3. Check that the power cord is firmly connected to the dryer’s wire harness.
4. Access the machine control electronics without disconnecting any wiring to the control board.
5. With an ohmmeter, check for continuity between the neutral (N) terminal of the plug and P8-3 (white wire) on the machine control board. If there is continuity, go to step 6. If there is no continuity, disconnect the white wire of the harness from the power cord. Test the continuity of the power cord neutral wire . If an open circuit is found,
replace the power cord. Otherwise, go to step 6.
6. In a similar way, check the continuity between the L1 terminal of the plug and P9- 2 (black wire) on the control board. If there is continuity, go to step 8. If there is no continuity, check the continuity of the power cord for power cord’s L1 wire. If an open circuit is found, replace the power cord. Otherwise, go to step 7.
7. Replace the main harness.
8. Visually check that the P5 connector is inserted all the way into the machine control electronics.
9. Visually check that the user interface assembly is properly inserted into the front console.
10. If both visual checks pass, replace the user interface assembly.
11. Plug in dryer or reconnect power.
12. Perform the Console Buttons and Indicators Diagnostic test to verify repair.
13. If indicators still do not light, the machine control electronics has failed: Unplug dryer or disconnect power.
Replace the machine control electronics. Plug in dryer or reconnect power. Perform the Console Buttons and Indicators Diagnostic test to verify repair.

TEST #2 Machine Control Power Check
This test is used to determine if power is present at the machine control electronics.
NOTE: The drum light is controlled by the machine control on all models.
1. Plug in dryer or reconnect power.
2. Open the door.If the drum light illuminates, then power is present at the machine control, and it is functional. Go to TEST #6. If the drum light fails to illuminate, do not assume the machine control electronics needs replacement. Several conditions may cause the drum light not to illuminate, including a bad bulb. If the drum light does not illuminate, go to TEST #1.

TEST #3 Drive Motor Circuit
This test will check the wiring to the motor and the motor itself. The following items are part of this motor system:
Harness/connection Belt/belt switch Drive motor Centrifugal switch Door switch Machine control electronics
1. Unplug dryer or disconnect power.
2. Access the machine control electronics and measure the resistance across P8-4 and P9-1.
If resistance across P8-4 and P9-1 is in the range of 1 to 6 ohms, replace the machine control electronics.
Otherwise, go to step 3.
3. Check the wiring and components in the path between these measurement points by referring to the appropriate wiring diagram and strip circuit in Section 7.
4. Check the belt switch and drive motor. Access the belt switch and drive motor by removing the front panel/drum assembly. Slowly remove the drum belt from the spring-loaded belt switch tension pulley, gently letting the belt pulley down.
5. Remove the white connector from the drive motor switch.
6. Check for the resistance values of the motor’s Main and Start winding coils. NOTE: Main and Start winding coils must be checked at the motor.WINDING RESISTANCE ω CONTACT POINTS OF MEASUREMENT
MAIN 1.4–2.6 Blue wire in back at pin 4 and bare copper wire on pin 5 of black drive motor switch
START 1.4–2.8 Blue wire in back at pin 4 and bare copper wire on pin 3 of black drive motor switch. If the resistance at the motor is correct, there is an open circuit between the motor and machine control electronics.
Check for failed belt switch. If the Start winding resistance is much greater than 4 ohms, replace the motor.
7. Check the belt switch by measuring resistance between the two blue wires while pushing up the belt switch tension pulley. If the resistance reading goes from infinity to a few ohms as pulley arm closes the switch, belt switch is OK. If not, replace the belt switch. If belt switch is OK and there is still an open circuit, check and repair the wiring harness.
8. Door switch problems can be uncovered in the Door Switch Diagnostic Test; however, if this was not done, the following can be done without applying power to the dryer. Connect an ohmmeter across P8-3 (neutral, white wire) and P8-4 (door, tan wire). With the door properly closed, the ohmmeter should indicate a closed circuit
(0–2 ohms). If not, replace the door switch assembly.

How do I wire a 4 way switch in my home

in order to wire a 4 way switch, there needs to be a total of 3 switches working to operate a device/light. you need a 2-wire coming from power source, 3-wire from first switch to 4-way switch then 3-wire to last switch. white wires (neutral) get connected together. Depending on the layout of the switches. i.e where the power comes from and where the switch leg goes to but a basic 4 -way switch is in between 2 other 3-way switches.

Won't start with starter button but it will start jumping the cellinoid

Is that the solenoid with the two battery lugs (from battery, to starter) and a 4 wire connector?
With a test light, back probe the connector while pressing the start button. At least one of the wires whould have power off and one with the button.
If not then I would suspect a short in that wire to the switch or possibly a bad switch (starter button).
If one of the wires has power when the button is pressed then one needs to be a ground. A ground could be bad.

My old power supply had 4 wires going to the front panel on\off switch. The Dynex power supply does not support the switch. what do I use to turn the unit on or off. Will the unit function with out the...

Normally the front panel on/off power button and the front panel reset button plug into connector pins on your motherboard.

If you can find a User Manual for your motherboard it will show you exactly where the switch leads plug in on the motherboard. The motherboard's manufacturer and model number will be printed on the board somewhere.

Good luck.

Trying to install a push button ignition need to know which two wires to run to the button, without having to spend hours tracing and guessing. A diagram showing the wires would be great.

Your switch has 4 terminals.

1. Red is the hot wire from the battery.
2. Dark Blue is the run wire. This wire powers PCM, and engine and well as all accessories when the key is on.
3. Yellow is the start wire. It powers the engine, ECU and starter circuit when the key is turned to start.
4. Last terminal is accessories. I don't know the color, but it will power the radio, blower, windows, mirrors, etc. when key is turned to ACC. Some diagrams of the switch are below. Please let me know if you have any questions.

I'm trying to convert my ignition switch to a push button start on a 1985 ramcharger, and can't figure out which wires activate the dash board interior.

here is a step by step guide to assist you. This should definitely work on your vehicle 1 Disconnect your battery. Electricity, even from a 12-volt battery, can cause injuries and sparks can create fires. This is not a project you want to work on while the power is hooked up. 2 Decide on the placement of your new push-button starter switch. Good locations include under the dashboard, in the center console or even in the glove compartment. This is really a matter of personal taste and convenience. If you are just using the push button switch as a temporary fix, you don't have to actually install it. Just wrap the electrical connections in electrician's tape and lay it on top of the dashboard after everything is connected. 3 Using your wrenches or sockets, remove the nut from the positive side stud of your starter solenoid and put it in a safe place where it won't get lost. 4 Using the crimping tool, remove the insulation from about 1/4-inch of the wire and attach an eyelet connector that is of appropriate size to fit over the positive side stud of your solenoid. Crimp the connector onto the wire firmly and then slide the eyelet over the positive side stud of the solenoid and reattach the nut. 5 Run your wire into the pasenger compartment of the car, being careful to route it in such a way that it will not come into contact with hot engine components or sharp edges that might damage the wire. Once you are in the passenger compartment and have enough wire to reach your switch's' installation location, allow an extra 3 to 4 inches and clip the wire. Strip the insulation from the end of the wire and install a crimp connector of the appropriate size to fit on one side of your push-button switch. 6 Remove the screw from the back of the push-button switch and attach the connector to the switch. 7 Strip the insulation from the last 1/4-inch of the remaining wire and connect a crimp connector it. Remove the screw from the other side of the push=button switch and attach the connector to the switch. 8 Route this wire to the positive side of the battery. As with the last wire, be very careful to avoid engine components that may damage the wire. 9 Reconnect the negative side of your battery. 10 Reconnect the positive side of your battery with the new wire placed into position where it will get a good electrical connection 11 Try it out. You will still need your key to unlock the steering wheel and send power to your fuel pump and accessories. Turn the key to the on position and press the starter button to start the engine.
if you need further assistance please feel free to let me know and i will be glad to assist you further. Thanks, Midwest-tek

I have nuvo 4 zone switch that I cannot get to

That indicated there is a short or incorrect wiring on the combus of the keypads.

Remove the keypads from the walls and unplug them one at a time.

Then unplug one at a time from the all-port until it works.

The last one you unplug will be the offender, inspect the cat-5 crimp for a pair or wires that are in the incorrect order.

Cheers!

Computer Case ULT33180 Powers down about 4 seconds after started

Ive done something similar, I took the CMOS battery off the motherboard and put it back in after about a minute to reset the bios. Unplugged the power supply from the motherboard and flipped the power switch on the back of the power supply (on and off a few times) and plugged the power connector back onto the motherboard. I know it sounds like an odd way of fixing this problem but has worked for me.

If the wires from the reset switch is white/blue the blue wire is positive, Hdd red/white red is positive power Green/white Green is positive etc. The wires on the speaker connector will be red/black/black/white - red is positive. The colored wire is always positive. On all GA mb's the positive connection is always towards the back of the MB and are marked with a + on the base of the pin as you can see on the photo. Hope this help.
