How to disable/enable Microsoft Windows startup programs

In this guide I will show you how to enable or disable startup programs in Microsoft Windows. Disabling startup programs can help your computer boot up faster and remove some of that garbage that clusters your desktop when you first boot up your computer.

In Windows go to Start and click Run. In the Run box type "msconfig". You will now get a new window that opens up like below,

Click the "Startup" tab. In this tab you will get a list of programs that will launch when Windows starts up. The more programs that start up, the slower your machine will be. You can speed up your computer boot process by disabling unnecessary programs. To disable a program, uncheck the box next to the program you wish to not startup. Some examples of unnecessary programs are Itunes, Google Talk, Skype, software updater programs or any other programs that you don't wish to be started when Windows opens.

Alternatively, you can enable certain programs to startup when Windows boots. Just check the box next to the program you wish to startup.

Make sure to hit the "apply" button once you are done!

I hope this article was informative.

Can't disable / remove "Print Status Window" on Sharp Ar-M160/M200

Remove the printer software and use a generic Windows driver. That is the only way, since the status window is part of the driver software. If the printer is postscript enabled you can almost always use the HP laserjet 4 driver which is basically generic postscript.

Try going to the CP - Add/remove programs... updates. Remove the up date.
Go to microsoft and there should be two other updates to install first. microsoft reports people having trouble with this update without the other two updates first.

when you start you machine press whichever key you need to get into your cmos setup. once you get there look through the list for password enable or disable. I think pressing the spacebar will change the enable/disable state, then save and exit.
