Open the upper cover, remove the platen (roller) there is a latct on each side that has to be pressed down, after the platen is out thetre are two latches one on each dide just inside the the sides of the case pull them to the front, flip the margins inside and lift the case, give the motor a little push, if it starts get a can of WD40 and spray everything inside the T/W that moves.

If there is no noise, movement or lights the power supply is most likely bad. If you pack it well and ship it to us we will give you a free estimate. It won't cost anything unless you choose to repair it.

I need to operate the "CODE" button. How do I copy typed info with "CODE"?

If you want to store something and reprint it later. On the L. side of the keyboard are 3 keys STORE, PLAY and DELETE. Hold the store key, type in a address 01-99 release store key, type info, touch store again. To print hold play, type address, release play.

BE SURE THAT BATTERIES ARE GOOD AND THE HOLDER ISN'T CORRODED OR YOU WILL LOSE THE MEMORY ON POWER DOWN!!!

We have an old IBM Wheelwriter 6 Series II typewriter, but no manual. Need to know how do we program the typewriter to store information for forms that need to be typed that all have the same info?

First thing be sure the batteries are good. When it powers up it should beep once and the 1 light will come on. If that dosen't happen change the batt. and be sure the contacts aren't corroded.

There are 3 keys on the left side that say store, play and delete, hold the store while typing an address 01 - 99, release store, type info press store again. To print hold play and typa address. Delete works the same way.

Types wrong characters

If the typewriter is typing letters or symbols that you do not type, it is usually because the Pitch Selector is set to "PS". The pitch selector is on the left hand side and has the numbers 10,12, 15 and PS. Place the selector on 10 or 12 and you will be OK.
Also, check to make sure your printwheel is installed properly. Remove it and put it back in to make sure.

Another thing you can try is to clear the memory. To do this, turn off the machine. Place a piece of paper in the machine sideways. Hold down the MAR REL key and while holding it down, turn on the machine. Wait 2 seconds, then let go of the key. The typewriter will start typing. Shut the machine off after about 15 seconds. Then turn it on as usual. This will clear the typewriter's memory and unexpected charaters should not happen anymore.
