Question about Mitsubishi WS-55315 55" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

I have a LTP227WX/XAA Samsung LCD TV that will not boot up. I get a red flashing light & chime, but nothing else. I have unplugged for 20 minutes to reset, but no change. I assume there might be a power supply problem, but am not sure. I have done some electronic repair and have a DVM. Any suggestions on how to isolate problem and repair details would be appreciated.

I have same problem - noticed after a power flicker to the house. Something is blown in the start up circuit. It trips an auto shut down circuit when trying to boot up. If I unplug the power to the monitor and then hold the power button down while plugging power cord back in, I can get the unit to cycle with first the OFF and then the ON chime. The monitor still finishes in the off state but without having tripped the auto shut down circuit. In this case, the small red light indicating that power is still on to the unit stays on. Leaving the unit in this state for about 4 hours seemed to allow for some capacitor to soak such that it would boot up as normal. This technique worked for a few weeks. Eventually, it required an overnight soak time of 12 hours. A few weeks later, no amount of soak time in the red light on state works.

It probably only take a $2 chip or a $50 circuit board to fix this problem, but try to find one.

Same symptoms although I notice that when it tries to power up there is a brief flicker of the backlight(not noticeable except in low light or very close to screen) I had this problem before and it temporarily disappeared for a few months on it's own. Then returned. It has been months since I tried to power the unit on(it was packed and ready to ship somewhere for repairs...but I never got around to it) I will try the first solution offered about the capacitors in the power supply.TIA if that works!

Upon looking into this series of power supply. The final filtering caps appear to be underrated.

There are 3 1000µF @ 35WVDC, these are very noticeable as being
expanded and blown.

Simple replacement by common accepted practices is in order, after unplugging the unit from A/C power cord.

Separate the case halves gently with an old credit card or edge of a bad CD as not to scratch the side and gently pry the halves apart.

Removal of the 2 screws on the back behind base is the final step.

Replace these items with a higher rated capacitor.

Use 1000µF @ 50WVDC. Replace all three at the same time.

Reassemble in reverse order.

Samsung lnt4069fx/xaa. im getting nothing but 5 red flashes

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication. You can get an idea about the faulty stage circuit inside the TV, by the number of these blinks. Count it carefully, by switching it ON and OFF, more than 2 times at least, so that, you can make sure about the number of these blinks. If you wish to get more details, check the site linked here. Samsung tv ln52a750 when turning it on it chimes, red light flashes, and then it clicks and shuts back off, and then just keeps doing the same thing over and over. tried unplugging and is still doing it.

These blinks (flashes) are fault indication. By the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can vet an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. Count the blinks occur at one time switch ON, carefully. Do it once again, and make sure about the number of blinks. If the flashes are continious, non-stop, the main system control IC should be suspected. If you wish to get more details, check the site linked here. It has blinking codes detail to many brand TVs. You have swollen caps on your power supply. Unplug the set and take the back off. You will see them right away. On the power supply board you will see them with bulging caps. They should be flat like the other caps. Replace them with the same value caps and you will be back to normal.

I have a samsung (txr3079whx/xaa) TV is in stand by mode, I push power button and the light flashes, and I hear a chime but it doesn't turn on. What do I do?

Hi, the periodic red light is an indicator of a circuit failure, on some Television sets the number of blinks of the light will give a general idea of what circuit is malfunctioning. These sequences change according to make and model. As mentioned before it usually points to a general area and most of the time it's best to take the TV in for an estimation to get an actual idea on what the repair will cost.

Usually the power supply is bad. Just 3 capacitors 1000uF 35volt rating. The 3 electrolytic caps will be puffed out, simply replace tham and you will be back in business.
