First off, what is the make \model of your machine so I can help you better. Otherwise, take the cover of the unit off and look to see if you can see any small gears at the front of the drawer. If so use a small screwdriver to turn the gear or gears. The laser assy. will move down first to get out of the way of the drawer then the drawer will slide open.
If you cannot see any gears you must get the drawers' faceplate off. Once off you should be able to see gears or a belt and motor that you spin to get the laser assy. down. Once the laser assy. is down you will be able to slide the drawer out by hand.
Replace belt if there is one. Good Luck!!

The dvd drawer won't open. it is "stuck" closed.

Hello

A stuck drawer indicates a jammed mechanism or the presence of a mechanical drawer lock.

Locate your DVD player's manual Eject button. It is usually a small hole located underneath the DVD drawer.

Insert a stiff wire-such as a paperclip or safety pin-into the hole. Push gently and the drawer should open partway. Gently pull the drawer the rest of the way open.

When dvd is inserted "read" comes up on screen on

Not a lot to go on...
I would expect the unit says read for a while, then opens the drawer. This is an optic issue. Optics are $$$. If the drawer opens almost immediately, it is likely the drive's drawer sense switch needs cleaning.

DVD jammed in tray

Should be a small hole in the front new the drawer. Stick the end of a paperclip into it and the drawer should open. Power off, of course.

Tray will not open

hi had the same problem, unscrew the top off from panel and just like a computer burner there is a button on the front of the burner on the inside independent of the eject button, that is away from the actual eject button. my friend drilled a small hole on the front near the burner from the outside and i stick an allen key through they hole and the tray will come open, not sure why the eject buttons are dodgy, but this should work. and do u know where i can get a replacement remote or which universal contol will work?

Toshiba sd-3990 Disc-drawer won't open

I was given one of these the other day. I was told the drawer wouldn't open yet the machine seemed to function fine. I removed the six screws holding the top on the box and then removed the four screws holding the drawer assembly in place. As you lift the drawer assembly out of the box, make sure you release the two pieces of black retaining tape holding the data cable to the box floor. Turn the drawer over and you will see that there is a little sideways bar mounted on the front underside of the drawer assembly. This is sticking. As you press the OPEN button, jiggle this bar and the drawer will open. You may have to manually move the drawer cogwheel a little to help free it up. Hope this helps.

Stuck disc drawer rca model drc8312n

If there is a tiny pin hole in the front a straightened paper clip does wonders. Simply insert to release the drawer. At least that's how it works on computers ;)
