You need to disassemble the machine to see the laser. Take a cue-tip and spray windex on it. Take the cue-tip and clean the lens from the inside out in a circular motion. then immediately use a dry cue-tip to remove any excess moisture. Otherwise buy a cleaning disc...the wet variety. Good luck!!

Hi,

how long have you been using this player? I suspect the laser (lens) of the player. I think the laser (lens) is weak that's why it cannot read data/files on DVD discs.

To confirm if actually its a laser problem, insert an Audio CD into the player and see if will play. If it plays, then obviously, your laser (lens) is weak. But if it doesn't play Audio CD, then it might still be the laser (lens) or a mechanism problem.

Get a lens cleaner, use it to clean the lens. If that doesn't solve the problem, get a screw driver, open the player's cover so that you can gain access to the lens, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens. This should clean dust or dirt that might be on the lens.

If non of the above solves the problem, then know that you need to replace the laser to a brand new one.

To replace the lens, remove the bad laser, use it as a sample to get exactly the same type and do the replacement. Note that replacing a laser (lens) needs a professional touch, so if you cannot replace the laser, get it to a repairman to fix it for you.

Once this us done, your player will play all DVD discs again.

Yours sincerely.

Can not play disc

You can try a lens cleaning kit. If it is the kind that comes as a disc all it will do is lightly brush the lens which may not remove all the debris. If you disassemble the player you can easily get to the laser lens. It will usually be fairly accessible once you remove the DVD case. Sometimes it may be located within another box that needs to be disassembled before you can gain access to the laser. The laser unit will be located on a rail system and will have a small clear lens about the diameter of the eraser on a pencil. You can gently clean it with a cotton swab and lens cleaner or rubbing alcohol works just as well. Try that first before buying the lens cleaning kit or replacing the player.

PORTABLE DVD PLAYER NOT SPINNING DISCS AND SAYING NO DISC

When it is region lock it will say it on the display, if the player is not reading any disk, it is more likely a lens problem, see below:

Try first using a lens cleaner disk, like the ones here.

If that does not work, the unit must be disassembled, and lense cleaned with q tips and isopropyl alcohol or cleaning solution. See below:

How do I clean the laser of a coby 224 dvd player?

Step1Make sure the laser pickup lens is actually the problem. There are a wide variety of reasons that a DVD player might not read a disc efficiently. The disc could be scratched or dirty, for example. Test the DVD player with a disc that you know works before trying to clean the lens. Step2Purchase or borrow a lens cleaner disc and try it first. You can find these things really cheap at any large department store. They usually get the job done well. However, you may need to clean the lens manually if the store-bought cleaner fails. Step3Remove the outer casing of the DVD player. Remove the screws that mount the top casing onto the bottom of the DVD player and slide the top casing off. This will expose the DVD deck, which houses the laser pickup lens. Step4Find the lens. The lens will be glass and under the DVD clamp. The lens will probably have a blue tint to it. If you are having trouble finding the lens, you could shine a light on the components and watch for the reflection. Step5Use a cotton swab and some isopropyl alcohol to gently wipe the lens. Just a quick scrub will do. Dry the laser pickup lens with the other end of the swab. Step6Give the lens a few seconds to dry and replace the covering of the DVD player. Test the efficiency of the player. If necessary, repeat the processalso click this link for more help http://www.ehow.com/Search.aspx?s=How+do+I+clean+the+lens+of+a++dvd+player%3F&Options=0

Disc error

It is possible that there is some dirt on the laser lens. With great care the laser lens can be cleaned.

If cleaning the laser lens does not fix it, there is the possibility that the laser unit and or its assembly, or the related electronics has a fault.
