Dell C600 Hi, my battery will not charge. I have moved my battery to the cd rom side and it still will not charge it says idle on the bios. Bios is A23 and i have been told to revert back to A12 then the battery will charge. My problem is trying to download as Dell zip file asks for a password or the computer says it will not update as this is the same or earlier so it stops p.s the battery is new

Hi, My Dell C600 will not charge either. Two batteries that have been working quit charging. The computer runs on ac power and battery. the batteries are getting low. Windows xp says charging, but no change. BIOS is ver. A23 also. I am letting it all cool off to see if it works again. next I will try to revert to an earlier BIOS. Why A12 aren't there others in beween that and A23? Is it possible the charger is broken or a bad motherboard? Is there any component that can be changed to fix this? I put in another hard drive with win xp new and still the same problem. So it's not a windows problem.

Here goes, first download the A12 BIOS from this page or others,

http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/BIOS/Dell/index5.shtml

Then, Run this file to make a bootable bios floppy disk. Reboot the laptop floppy will start dos mode, the updater will detect any bios newer then A12 and say finished without changing anything and come to an a: prompt.

type dir for a list of files on the floppy. If your typing gets you wierd symbols try holding the Fn key (lower left) lookfor the filename C600_A12.exe or somthing like this. type it at the a prompt exact. The bios flash will check system bios and ask your permission to revert back to A12. say Y.

Computer will reboot. take floppy out.

My batteries charge grat now, but I don't get all ythe settings pages in Bios that I should, It seems to hang when i enter Bios. Laptop works fine though. i have installed and tries all bios from A12 yo A23, the A12 seems to be the best. No problems from winXP.

It turns on and shows the BIOS screen? Can you access via F2? If it shuts down, check the RAM and RAM slots! Wrong CPU can also imitate a dead machine

Dell Cpi-A laptop Bios problem

Hello I am having the same problem. I have two batteries neither of which are detected even at full charge. My laptop only runs when its plugged in. My bios appears just as you said it remains stuck on the first page. This happened after my machine shut itself off i think due to overheating. I have done many upgrades and it has run great for over a year now. I have a much larger processor than my motherboard was meant for but it still ran with it in. Have you made any changes to your laptop recently? This happened to me right after i replaced the harddrive. Please let me know if you have fixed the problem thanks!

Dell c 600 will no charge the battery

try load defaults on bios by goin F2 on dell splash screen. if still no go, remove battery and leave adapter plugged in. if no power while adapter only plugged in, replace adapter, if has power while adapter plugged in, replace motherboard( since you already replaced the old battery).
