How do i reset my gateway labtop

Hi,
You will need to release your current IP address and gateway in order to get a new one.

Open Command Prompt (Windows+R, type cmd), release your current IP by typing the following ipconfig /release and then press enter. This will release any assigned IP addresses and gateways from your system. Again type ipconfig/renew and press enter, now you can able to see the new IP and Gateway.

I have a MacIntosh computer and wanted to install NetGear WGPS606 54 Mbps Wireless Print Server w/4 Port Switch to serve a Canon Pixma MP830. The hangup is the IP address assigned to the printer. I had...

You can assign ip with 2 method 1 is manually and other is automatic .
If you set manualy ip you must need to set gateway as your printers and other computer's gateway.
Subnetmask is same in all system.
For example if your netgear lan ip is 192.168.1.1 then your printer ip 192.168.1.5 sunet mask as 255.255.255.0 and gateway is 192.168.1.1
Other computer's ip 192.168.1.6 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1
Make sure the printer driver installed and it is in network.
IF you want ip from netgear then you need to enable dhcp in it.
Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
http://192.168.1.1 or
http://192.168.0.1 or
http://192.168.15.1
or
http://192.168.2.1
If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.

Then click on dhcp then enable save settings and restart netgear.
Then in printer set ip get automatic from router.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

I had compaq d310v yesterday i installed windows 7 .but internet does not connect.2 computer icon states that thier is no any connection, but i uses dsl

You may need to setup/ config your gateway ip address, and/or input a primary DNS address in your TCP/IP settings on your network properties. The gateway address should essentially be the ip address of your dsl router. The dns would be the same address.

To enable gateway and dns, however, you will also need to assign a static ip address to your computer. Which would be an address in the same range as your routers ip. EG, if your routers ip is 192.168.0.254, Then you could use any address Under 254, eg 192.268.0.105, Or 192.168.0.88, And so on.

Please reply to this posting If you require more clarification.

I post solutions/fixes on my site www.yama.co.za/forum Please take a visit if you can.

No internet connection, system stuck on ''acquiring ntwrk address''

It's doing this because it's not getting the IP from either the router or the modem. Goto Start, run and type cmd. Now type ipconfig /all. On this this list you should see IP address = 192.168.??.?? andDefault Gateway = 192.168.??.??. If your getting both of these addresses then your system if infected with virus. I suspect though that your list is probably not filled out. If so type ipconfig /flush dns. Then type ipconfig /renew. These commands should bring you back online, if not I would call Conmcast and have theme ping the modem. If the modem pings fine I would say that either your modem cable or network card are faulty.

Acquiring Address Problem

you will need to make sure that DHCP is enabled within the routers settings as this will tell the router to assign ip addresses automatically, then go to network connections, right click on your network card>properties>TCP/IP line>properties and tick 'obtain an ip address automatically', click ok, close window and restart pc.

Try resetting your IP address:
The laptop may be trying to use the IP address from the old router.

1) Click Start (assuming Windows 2000, XP, or Vista)
2) Click Run
3) Type in CMD
This will take you to a black command box
4) Type in: ipconfig/release
The chart should show your IP address as 0.0.0.0
Once this has happened, proceed to step 5
5) Type in: ipconfig/renew
You should now see a new IP address listed.

Also note that you need to set up your network key (assuming that you are using one) on both the router and laptop.
Make sure that your router is set up to perform as DHCP server.
