Hi ,
there is a fuseable link inside the battery , this will be blown , If you have your proof of purchase then contact Ryobi and they usually replace the batterys free of charge and in the past would often replace the entire kit .
( ex Ryobi warranty agent )

hope this helps

The cordless drills I have purchased even good ones like Ryobi lasted about three years The drills will work good but the batteries go dead after a while. My Ryobi I keep one battery charging in my charger all the time but before you do this check your manual to make sure its ok. I change batteries every two weeks when not in use all the time. I never have a run down battery that way.

My ryobi 14.4 v cordless, when i put the battery in the charger the yellow and green light both stay on and does not charge. this happens with both chargers and battery packs

If i have this striaght two chargers and the green and yellow lights are on and the batterys will not charge and there 14.4v batterys correct . Then the batterys must be no good unless bolth chargers are bad and have the same problem witch is exterimly unlikely. most likely the batterys and are NG.They don't do well if left in cold condutions or hot for that matter but cold is worse . 14.4 V is is an unasul size and if its not a lithuim ion battery its going to be obisilete and unavaible soon if not already . Ihad the same problem with my RYOBI 7.2 volt can't get the batterys for under a 100 dollars thats one and a speical order i paid 39 dollars for the gun and 2 batterys . They make the money off resale on batterys . And you can do far better then RYOBI for a screw gun now a days

I bought a Ryobl Power Drill 14.4volt last week at a D.I.Y. store and have found when charging the batteries the light on the charger is Yellow. In the instruction manual they only mention Red when...

yellow usually indicates a HOT battery and is waiting for a cool down before recharging or it can mean a defective battery/charger. If you just bought this unit I would take it back for warranty replacement.

Yellow and green light are on but wont charge battery?

If both lights are on and both are flashing the charger is reading the battery as defective and the charger won't charge the battery. If the Red light (yellow if plastic is faded) is on and the green is flashing the charger is trying to charge the battery. If the battery won't charge replace it.

I get a green and yellow light on the Ryobi 18v charger and the batteries don't recharge. Does this mean the charger is now bad? Thanks for any help. Dan

This usually indicates that one or more of the rechargeable C batteries is not recharging. The batteries are standard rechargeable C batteries but the terminals are spot welded and are very hard to separate. There are 15 rechargeable C batteries in the Ryobi 18v battery pack. A battery tester will show which battery(s) needs replacing. There are refurbishing centers (Google search) but they will replace all the batteries and usually upgrade the OEM 1500 mah batteries with 2100 mah, or higher, batteries.

Green & Yellow light on 14.4V charger

It sounds like your battery is bad.

If both yellow and green LEDs come on, this indicates
a deeply discharged or defective battery pack.
Allow the battery pack to remain in the charger for 15
to 30 minutes. When the battery pack reaches normal
voltage range, the red LED should come on. If the
red LED does not come on after 30 minutes, this may
indicate a defective battery pack and should be
replaced.
n After normal usage, a minimum of 1 hour of charging time
is required to fully recharge battery pack.
