the other night i posted that my laptop wont recognize my tv tuner, my friends computer brought it right up in the devise manager screen when i plugged it in, under other devices like it's supposed to. mine will not register that its even plugged in, is my computer broken or do i need to find a new driver or what? oh yea i'm using vista and as i said in my previous post, this laptop used to run the tv tuner no problem, just push the quickplay button and the composite option, now theres nothin. please help, ~stuck in a tent in iraq

first off lets try pluggin in something else into that port to see if it will recognize that. if it does then we know it is not the laptop that is in question but the software or device mangaer properites.

- Well I know with my laptop sometimes I have to do a restart for the cards to be recognized to the system.
give that a go and see what happens also please provide the model number of the card as well. that way I can look into the model in question.

- well HP is not being very co-oprative. so the best solution I can provide is email hp's support as much as I wish we could have solved this issue here.
either the laptops drivers got messed up and need to be re-installed or the pcmia slot is dirty enough to not have a decent connection with the card.
because sounds like its not a issue with hps drivers you could also try if you have any firewall setting on is to turn them off and then trying to install the software then for some odd reason its a common issue with hp products.
so if you have a virus scanner or firewall on (software) turn them off on reboot so that it will be completely off for install purposes
other then that ya contact hp via email on their site and get them to further diagnose the issue but to me it sounds to be the laptop and not the card since you stated it worked on another laptop.

I have been using my hp expresscard for a year and a half. Last week my computer was not able to detect the tv tuner card. i attempted to reinstall the software to no avail, checked all my settings, which I hadn't changed, and even set up my tv in windows media center.
