you are using old version of yahoo messenger..
you need to uninstall the version from add and remove program and install latest version 10
you can download the latest version from http://messenger.yahoo.com
You should install the drivers before you try to operate the webcam, unless the instructions state otherwise. If the drivers are not installed, unplug the webcam and install the drivers, and plug the web cam back in when promoted. If you have the drivers installed already, or can confirm the web cam works, open up skype and navigate to tools then options. Once in the options menu go to the video settings tab. In the "select webcam" drop down menu select the webcam of your choice.
It's also possible you are using an older version of skype that my not support new protocols for video, OR it's possible you are using a new version of skype which doesn't automatically start video. If you are using an older version of skype (current version is 5.1) update to the later version. If you have the latest version, you may need to manually start video chat. When you start a call, look towards the lower area of the screen for a button that says "My video" and click on it. This should start the video chat.
Well if it's an integrated camera it should be installed try and find the original CD's. If you don't have the CD's install the drivers through Driver Magician(r). After you installed the webcam, go to YM main window -> Messenger -> My webcam. That should do the trick.
Try to obtain newest and latest version of skype first. Problem may be with your web cam as it may not be properly connected with your pc or it has no proper driver install, please try reinstalling driver and check.
Further, before you install driver please check the settings from skype menu to see if they are set properly.
If everything else has sound but not YM then try the ff:
* Restart the computer first then check if that will make it work
* Run Windows System Restore - just go back to a day when everything worked fine (refer to http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/getstarted/ballew_03may19.mspx)
* If that didn't work, try to uninstall it from Add/Remove Programs then reinstall it
* Use the latest version of Yahoo Messenger
