It sounds like the internal bulb in your monitor is going out. Some LCD monitors go through a slight warm-up period but it should not be 5-10 minutes. You may want to change your Power Saving settings to prevent from going into standby. Here's how:

Right-click in an open space on your desktop
Choose Properties
Click the Screen Saver tab
Down at the bottom look for the Power settings
Change the Monitor Standby to NEVER
Click OK

Good luck!!

Dark LCD screen. Very faint image.

Internally it has a inverter board which go bad sometimes or due to heat sometimes get unpluged. So you will have to open it make sure when you do there is no power going to it.Look at the wires make sure they are snug and try again.
good Luck

I have a Dell 17" flat screen ultrasharp monitor. It suddenly went dark and will not power up. Can it be repaired?

With the dropping price of monitors today; can get a good 22 inch lcd for less than $200 in most stores, it would probably cost more to have the old monitor repaired than just replace with a new monitor. Hope this helps.

The screen is too dark

Its going to be a problem with the screen itself or the inverter that controls the voltage going to the screen, either way the monitor will need to be replaced or you can replace the parts but the cost of the parts might be more then the cost of a new monitor.

Kogi 17'' flat screen monitor

there are four(4) buttons on your monitor to the left of the on/off switch.
Press the first one to the left of the off switch, which will bring up a menu, so you can select
bright or volume, screen size, etc; Next, there are two (2) buttons to the left of the first left button
that you can push to adjust brightness, size, vertical, etc;

Dell E173FP - After sometime the screen switches off

Sorry not a solution - but I have started experiencing the exact same problem over the last month although sometimes, on switching on again, it will run for 10-15 minutes before the problem re-emerges. Initially I put it down to the v. hot weather in July but it still continues. So I would also appreciate any solutions!
