Help.... I get through the Microsoft start up screen and then I'm left with a blue screen and completely locked/frozen. Sometimes it will go through to my normal desktop, but then everything locks up again. The mouse won't even move. Any suggestions?

From what you've described, it sounds like you are clicking the Standby button, instead of the actual shutdown option. On the Start button, you will see (from left to right); Left: Start Search Middle: Standby Middle: Lock Right: Arrow Clicking the arrow will show you the Shutdown menu option; http://blogs.chron.com/techblog/archives/shutdown.jpg
