Question about Whirlpool LTE5243D Top Load Stacked Washer/Dryer

Lint pile up

When I pull out the lint trap to clean it I see behind it a wire mesh grill. I periodically clean lint off that grill. The problem is that there is lint build up on whatever it is that is behind the grill. The only way I have found to remove that lint is with a tweezers but it laborious and not very effective. How do I deal with this? Lintjammed.

Hello Lintjammed ( I like the name).. You may be able to add a skinny tube to your vaccuum cleaner to get down in that area.. Most hardware stores sell clear tubing by the linear foot and it is not very expensive or you may be able to salvage a piece of old garden hose to make that extension tube.. It has to be skinny enough to fit into the open area where your filter resides.. I have used tubing and some duct tape or electrical tape to transition the bigger vac line to the smaller tubing.. Hope this helps you..

I reset the button on my fisher& payment dryer. It worked for a short while and stopped heating again. What next?

check to see if lint build up is causing your thermal switch to trip. Pull out the lint trap and you'll see 1 Phillips head screw behind where the lint trap normally sits. Remove the screw, and you'll feel the circular plastic piece the lint trap sits in become loose...pull this round piece out of the dryer from the bottom. If there is a lot of lint behind this circular plastic piece, that's probably what's tripping the heat sensor. Vac it out. Gently feel around the circumference of where you removed the piece to see if the fine mesh lint screen has any holes (if it does, it may be blowing lint into your exhaust and eventually clog the vent to the outside). If the mesh is torn, I assume that larger circular piece needs to be replaced at some point in whole or part. From what I can see, the design of the lint filter and trap is ....****. The system allows lint to enter the area where the heat sensor sits.

The short term fix is to vac out the sensor area regularly and that will keep the switch from tripping, if that is your actual problem.
this was answered by someone else a year or so ago on this site thought i'd pass it on.
Hope this works.

My whirlpool duet electric dryer lets so much lint get through. A lot of lint doesn't get caught in the lint trap mesh and is going through the vent. I can tell by what is exhausted outside my house. I...

yes fire hazard ---but you need to make sure the lint trapp is seated all the way down if it doesant seat the lint will blow pass the screen ,,replacment might be nesasary if trapp is damaged less than 20 dollers at most parts stores.

The lint trap on my dryer is moist.

I don't know what's causing the smell, but the moist lint trap and the "takes two cycles" sounds like the exhaust vent is partially blocked.

You can ask the apartment manager to clean it out, or you can take a stab at it yourself with an electrician's fish tape, a plumber's snake, or a dryer-duct cleaning kit. (I picked links from Ace, but you can get them at any hardware or home shop)

Pull the dryer out and detach it from the ductwork. If you're using the fish tape or the drain auger, then you'll want to tie a rag to the end -- washcloth to dishtowel sized at the biggest -- to wipe the lint out of the ductwork. If you've got the duct-cleaning-kit, then use the brush that comes with the kit.

Work your way up and down the ductwork as far in as you can reasonably reach. Chances are good that you'll soon have a huge pile of lint on the floor, and much better airflow through the ductwork.

Hook up the dryer and things should go much better on the next laundry day.

Lint fell down the lint trap. How do I get it

Luckily, dryers are light. Best thing to do is pull it out until you can remove the back cover. (unplug it first) Then vacuum and clean all the dust and lint you can. This should be a yearly thing at least anyway. Replace the back plug it in and slid it back. I do mine every 6 months or so.

It is taking 3 full cycles to dry my small loads on my Maytag Performa PYE2300AYW. I have cleaned lint tray and trap. I need to clean the lint from the inside of my dryer - How do I do this?

The main area that you have to clean is the pipe leading from the back of your dryer to outdoors. Pull your dryer away from the wall. Unplug it. Unfasten the vent pipe. Now look into the back of the dryer exhaust and remove any lint you see there then look into the vent pipe and remove any lint. Finally go outdoors and remove any lint you see in the pipe or the pipe grill/cover.
