I have a new computer where I had to wipe the hard drive and start over. Now I am unable to go online because the drivers for the ethernet card on the mother board are not there. Someone else built this computer so I don't have the discs. (Which is why I had to start over.) Where can I go to download a driver for the ethernet drive for the above mentioned motherboard to a jump drive and get it into the computer that way? Thanks.

- I will get there but right now the ethernet driver needs to be updated so I can't even get online with the computer to get a scan. I need a driver for the ethernet for that motherboard that I can download to a jumpdrive, install on that computer, then go and get the scan. any suggestions for that?
Thanks.

- Thanks for the suggestion. At it turns out, the motherboard totally died. It wouldn't post or anything so I will be getting a new motherboard and CPU. This should solve the problem. Thanks.
As the article says , try using the software it recommends to find the correct drivers for your motherboard.

- Ok looks like I found it....odd story behind this board really....according to one website:
"MSI N1996 motherborad was used by HP and few other PC re sellers. It was listed in MSI website as MSI 650 GM-L motherboard."
That is half the reason it was so hard to find....sorry about the delay and the misunderstanding , either way I have what you are looking for , your LAN driver , which you can download here : http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=driverfile&dno=2389&i=0
After researching this and looking at my own MSI motherboards, I have noticed a pattern. The N1996 number is something many models had on the boards. The actual board (model) number is different. If you could look on the board between the PCI slots there should be another set of numbers.
Note:
I grabbed an MSI socket 775 board and it also has the N1996 board number. Looking between the PCI slots it reminded me that the boards have some strange numbers as well that are the actual system board number but not what MSI uses for their website to download the drivers. MS-7101 VER 2 B This also shows as an 865G/GVM-V
