Question about Lawn Mowers
While mowing my lawn (Craftsman 22" 6.75 HP push mower), the power propelled front wheels would begin to fail as I would stop, turn and lean the front wheels back on the ground before starting to push. When that occurred, I would dis-engage the power drive and re-engage it, and it would seemingly resolve the issue. After about 3 or 4 times doing this, the front wheels failed again, this time on a straight-away, and disengaging and re-engaging didn't fix it. The front wheels now will not roll without significant pressure applied. Assuming that this is a failed power drive, is there a way I can "unlock" the wheels such that they roll freely? Otherwise, is there something I can do to fix the power drive? Thanks for your help...
On yours you must replace the entire tranny unit - to make it roll you can remove the front wheels and remove the small gear on both sides - doing this of course will turn it into a push mower not self propel

I had this same issue. In my case, the sheild that keeps the dirt out of the gears in the wheel has gotten broke and the gears filled with junk and jammed the wheels. I just have to take the wheels off and blow the junk off the gears.
