Check to see if the icon is hidden:

  1. Press the BlackBerry menu key (the one with the dots; to the left of the track ball).
  2. Select the option that says Show All.
If the Media icon is hidden it will show, but it will be grayed out. To make the icon show do the following:
  1. Highlight the Media icon
  2. Press the BlackBerry menu key
  3. Select the Hide icon (which should have a check mark next to it). This will take the check mark away
Now the icon should no longer be grayed out.

I cannot play my media (only pictures but no music, or voice notes or videos) on my blackberry 8520. I must have downloaded some pther application software, like Blackberry world perhaps, because it does...

I have the same problem, unable to play music files, only since I updated App World/Messenger/Facebook/Twitter yesterday.
I also get the message 'uncaught exception: A browser content provider for video/3gpp MIME has already registered with your browser' after a reboot.
Any ideas anyone?

How to delete a downloaded video

It really depends on what kind of cellular phone you are having a problem with, but I'll try to help you as much as possible by giving you the step-by-step process to deleting a downloaded video on a Blackberry Tour:
First, you'll need to know the name of the downloaded video file. When downloading a video onto your phone, there will usually be a screen where you can name the file yourself; or it will be automatically saved as another name which describes the video. Once you have the name of the video, it's easy to delete it.
Once you have the name of the video, you want to open the dashboard on your Blackberry by pushing the Blackberry button which looks like this: jfpat.png
The dashboard should pop up, and you'll want to find your "Media" Application. Scroll around your dashboard with your track pad or track ball (to the right of the Blackberry button) until you find the Media folder which looks like a file folder with a "play" symbol in the middle of it (like the play button on a TV remote control or DVD player). Once you've highlighted the Media folder, click on it.
Now you are in the Media folder, and there should be a bunch of icons that look like music symbols, telephones, pictures, microphones, video cameras, etc. What you are looking for, however, is the icon that looks like the film on a movie reel or an undeveloped piece of film from a (now old-fashioned, haha) disposable camera. Select this icon.
Now a list of the names of the videos on your phone will open up. Search for the name of the video you want to delete by scrolling up and down with your track ball or track pad. Once you've highlighted the video that you want to delete, push the Blackberry button again, and a little menu will open up on the side. Scroll down to highlight the word "Delete", click on that, and the video is deleted off of your Blackberry smartphone.
Hope I helped. Thanks. -jfp

I cant access my music. it states that the sync took, but it is still showing that my music file is empty

1) Enter a name for the BlackBerry smartphone that media files will be transferred to
2) Choose to use either the Device Memory or the Media Card memory
3) Specify how much memory to keep free of music
4) Delete music transferred from all sources managed by BlackBerry Media Syncronization.
5) Indicate whether the BlackBerry smartphone should check for BlackBerry Media Syncronization updates when BlackBerry Media Syncronization opens, or should never check for updates.
I hope I was able to help you.
Thank you for using Fixya.

Cannot play Blackberry 9000 mp3 files on Bluetooth devise

Complete the following steps:
1) Use a search engine or a dedicated download site to find and download a third-party conversion tool. The tool must have the ability to convert the format of the audio or video file to a file format that the Media application can read.
2) Install the third-party conversion tool and follow the program instructions to convert the audio or video file to a format that the Media application supports. Refer to the following tables for optimal settings in the Media application.
Optimal settings for the Media application on the BlackBerry 9000 series smartphones:-
For video setting's
a) Video format: MPEG-4.
b) Video file extension: .avi
c) Resolution (4:3): 240x180
d) Resolution (16:9): 320x180
e) Video bitrate: 400 Kbps
f) Frames per second: 24

For Audio settings:-
a) Audio format: MP3
b) Audio bitrate: 128 Kbps
c) Sample rate: 44 kHz
d) Channels: 2 (Stereo)

Transfer the audio or video file from the computer to the BlackBerry smartphone using one of the following methods:-
1) Using BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Note: BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.2 must be installed on the computer.
  1. In BlackBerry Desktop Manager, open BlackBerry Media Manager.
  2. Use the Media Manager tool to transfer the audio or video file to the BlackBerry smartphone using a USB connection.
  3. Copy the files to the appropriate folder (either \blackberry\Music or \blackberry\Video) on the media card, or directly to the internal BlackBerry smartphone memory.
Note: Files larger than 3 MB cannot be transferred to internal BlackBerry smartphone memory.
2) Using the BlackBerry smartphone as a USB mass storage device:-
  1. On the BlackBerry smartphone, go to Options > Advanced Options > Media Card.
  2. Make sure that Mass Storage Mode Support is set to Enabled.
  3. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer and follow the prompts on the BlackBerry smartphone.
  4. Open the My Computer folder on the computer. The media card should appear there as a Removable Disk.
  5. Copy the files to the appropriate folder (either \blackberry\Music or \blackberry\Video) on the media card.
Using a media card reader
  1. Make sure that the media card reader is connected to the computer.
  2. Insert a media card into the media card reader.
  3. Open the My Computer folder on the computer. The media card should appear there as a Removable Disk.
  4. Copy the files to the appropriate folder (either \blackberry\Music or \blackberry\Video) on the media card.
  5. Insert the media card into the BlackBerry smartphone.

Music and pictures on blackberry 7250

Transferring media files back and forth between your phone and your computer is quite easy if you download the "Blackberry Desktop Manager" software from Blackberry.com. There is one button on the main screen that will say either "Media" or "Media Manager" when you have the software installed, and will allow you to copy music, songs, files from your computer to the phone or vice-versa. Hint: Always open the BB Desktop Software Manager on your computer first, before connection your phone with a USB cable. Will save you hours of time!

I am going to guess that since you can copy some types of media files to your phone then the problem is the format of the video files you want to copy. The phone's media playing application may not show files it cannot recognize.(or show an error message).

If you want to watch videos (or movies) on any type of smart phone or mobile player then I suggest you download a free application called Format Factory. It converts any type of media file to any other type of media file (video, music, pictures, DVDs). It has settings for Blackberry phones, iPods, PsP, etc. Go to: http://www.formatoz.com/ and check it out.
