Hello vanessastar3. Your dryer may have a motor mount with cushion or spring mounts and they may have grown weak with age. If the dryer performes substantially this maybe the lose point. Check your belt route most units have a flate spring supported roller and this maybe your weak spot. I will need Mgfr. & model# to be more pin point to the problem area if these suggestions don't correct the problem. Have fun.

Proline tumble dryer TDC6A makes a loud grinding noise.

Howdy: There is a spring loaded belt tenioner that holds the belt in place. They are plastic with steel bearings. They do go out often do to the surround heat in that area. Good luck - Doug

My kenmore dryer won't spin or tumble. The motor runs but no tumbling. I heard a loud bang but didn't know what happened. çould it be the belt?

If the drive motor is still running, the loud bang you heard was either the belt breaking, or slipping off the idler pulley. I will need a model number in order to give you spcific details on how to open the appliance in order to inspect and replace your belt. If you need assistance on how to properly route the dryer belt on to the drive motor shaft and idler pulley, has dryer belt diagrams listed under their "Special Features" section. Just click on the "Repair Help" link at the top of their web page, to start. You will need either diagrams H, B or K. Its hard to determine which diagram without your model number. Post back with your information and let me know.

Dryer Not Tumbling

If you are talking about the front of the machine, above the SERVICE ACCESS PANEL, then after you remove the screws at the bottom of the FRONT PANEL, pull the panel toward the front and the top of it will pop out. It is in place with small GUIDE SCREWS and a couple of removeable clips.

If your barrel is not tumbling you probably have a broken BELT and it needs to be replaced. Easier to do this from the back I think. It goes all the way around the barrel of the dryer, so you have to put it on the barrel then attach to the IDLER PULLEY and SERVICE BOLT.

Our proline tdv62 is blowing cold is this the heater element that needs replacing or could it be the thermostat please help

It could be either the element and or the thermostat(s).
The only way to find which one it is , is to meter the element and stats for continuity..
If you have a meter, set it to the ohms range, and check reading, you should get full scale deflection if they are o.k.
If no reading, then it is faulty.
Hope this helps you.
Plz rate my solution.

Hotpoint tumble drier TDL52S

you dont need to take the back off. to get inside, first remove the panel on the bottom of the front, that will allow you to remove the front panel and you will be able to get inside the dryer. as far as stretching the belt, i have never heard of that. there is a belt tensioner that holds the belt tight though. good luck!

Fitting tumble dryer drive belt

Looking from rear of dryer, one spring on motor is for tension, therefore put belt around drum(groove to the drum surface). Then rotate the motor firmly clockwise tensioning the spring, take belt from right of drum over tension wheel then put grooves of belt on shaft of motor.Release motor to tension spring, job done !!!!!
