Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
Ok here is how you do it i finally fixed my ps3 by doing some easy steps
1.have the ps3 off with the red light on and put your finger on it until it turns on and the off again
2.take off your finger and then put it on again on the power touch button until you hear two beeps
3.it will ask you to connect a usb cable from your controller to the ps3 do that
4.after that go to the second one that says restore data or memory
do those steps and your ps3 will start working in no time

I had the same problem after loading the 2.50 patch last night and I resolved the problem.
The ps3 would turn on and just sit at the wavy line.
I initially installed the 2.50 patch directly on the ps3 through it's internet connection. To fix it I had to download it and copy it to a sd memory card (camera memory) and insert that into the sd memory slot on the ps3.
Follow this procedure for proper setup of the update file.
Here is what i did to fix it.
-hold down the power button for 2 separate beeps. It will turn on then off. Take finger off button.
-after it powers off (light red) press the power again and hold until you hear a single beep (or 2) then a double beep. After the double beep stop pressing the button. (it took me a couple of tries to get to this point.)
-This will bring you to a new menu that was installed with 2.50.
-Select install update option
-insert the sd memory card or usb memory card.
-the ps3 will find the update and reinstall.
-let the install finish and let it reboot on it's own.
This worked for me. Hope it works for you.

Choose option 3 and try again. You may also need to re-enter the recovery menu and try option 4.
