It all depends on the dvd that you are watching you cant change it to anything bigger than what is was recorded.

You will have to just watch it like it is. I have the same thing with my dvd player its really thin picture its annoying

Demtec tv tft lcd realy dark picture

Hi,

Interpreting your description could mean that everything works except that it is dark. This being the case, then it could be indicative of defective:
  • CCF lamp(s) (cold cathode florescent); and or
  • inverter.
Depending on the size, there could be two or more lamps. The lamps provide the backlight similar to the LCD panel display of a cellphone. These lamps are powered by a high voltage/high frequency board called the inverter.

This of course would require a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

I have a panasonic dvd recorder DMR EH50 and I know this makes me a really techno "dummy" but I can't understand how you connect the player to the tv to make it record. I've got it so I can play...

My dear friend you need to connect the signal source direct to the dvd and then to the tv.If you got cable you need to connect it to the input of the dvd and then connect the output of the dvd to the tv set.
And when you go to record put the channel on the dvd

sounds like you might have a defective optical engine or at least it is internally dirty. would recommend that you have a qualified service tech look at it. if the quote is very high than you might want to just live with it.
