Smeg DW1614 diswasher won't start

I took the front panel off the diswasher in order to re-fix the handle on the decor cover (couldn't manage to get decor cover off any other way) & after putting back together again the door closes, the wash cycle displays but nothing happens - as if the dishwasher still thinks it's open? - any help greatly appreciated

SOURCE: Smeg dishwasher Beeps when trying to drain...seems to wash ok but

thanks for the above. I solved the problem by cleaning ALL of the drainage pipes--removing them and thoroughly cleaning in detergent and bleach--the small diameter outlet from the dishwasher WAS partially blocked. More to the point I connected from my hot/cold sink tap to the end of the outlet hose and put (carefully) back pressure into the D/W--after a short wait there was a surge and loads of rubbish including small bit of broken glass, a large staple (?) etc came back into the bowl below the d/w filter. I cleaned it all out and repeated 3 times, vacuuming out from the bowl any debris. After that I tested the d/w and it worked faultlessly. Why can't they tell you this in their troubleshooting? SOURCE: i have a smeg dish

Thanks to hijoloo for pointing me in the right direction. The offending part is the diverter valve, a paddle inside blocks one of two outlets in turn actuated by a micro switch, a motor and reduction gears. Check switch for continuity with multimeter (ohms) then check motor and gears turn freely by hand. My problem was a stiff paddle due to limescale. Soak in boiling water to free off then oil cog (externally) and rebuild.
turn the washer on its side and open up the bottom black plastic plate, than disconnect the two black hoses from the white pumphouse in the middle of the washer. disconnect the connector and open carefully the housing by removing two screws and the motor. check the switch and clean the white housing. Check also if there is nothing inside the rotorhouse. after this build every thing back and hope that its running. it worked for me. succes!
hijoloo.

Replace cover on Bosch Dish washer> Now a C6 code is displayed in the window

I had the same problem after replacing the white panel on my Bosch SHE45M02UC with a stainless panel. I got the C6 error code. I called Bosch customer service twice and neither rep was helpful. One guy told me he didn't know what the C6 code meant. He suggested that I call a local appliance repair guy and he would know what the code meant. I replied, you mean to tell me you work for the manufacturer of the dishwasher and don't know what the error code stands for but a local repair guy that doesn't work for Bosch does?

After all this frustration, I took the panels off and tested the dishwasher with no buttons. It worked fine! Turns out, each identical button isn't identical. Each one is labeled A-G. After putting it back together, no more C6 code! On a side note, try reseting the dishwasher. With the dishwasher on and door closed, hold down the cancel/reset buttons for 5 seconds and release. The disher should drain and reset.

We have a bosch integrated dishwasher with a broken handle. We can't get the cover off to replace it! There are no visible screws on door front and I am unsure about unscrewing the metal panel door in case...

On mine there is a 5mm hole on each side of the metal part of the door, about one third of the way down. Inside is a torx screw. Loosen these off a few turns and you should be able to pull the top of the decor panel towards you, (away from the door, not up). Then lift it up to release it from the lugs at the bottom of the door.
That works for mine - yours may be a different model, but it's likely to use a similar mechanism.

Where does the second front cover on my diswasher go?

The second cover goes just behind the front one. It has slotted holes in it so that one can adjust to the floor hight and the front on is at a fixed location. The 2 screws go thru both of them

NO WATER COMING THROUGH ON DISHWASHER JUST LOUD BUZZING NOISE

The buzz that you hear is the water line solenoid. It probably is not opening up to let the water through. You should replace this solenoid and it will fix your problem as long as you have water coming up to the diswasher's solenoid valve.

Kenmore Elite Dishwasher Problem

I had this same problem so I took the front panel off to access the thermal fuse.  What I found instead was that food had become lodged in the door latch which was keeping the door safety switch from operating properly.  I took a thin screwdriver and removed the food from the cavity.  Since you did not have the problem in your first five years the cavity just might be the problem since that is about the amount of time it took me to get too much food stuck in mine as well. This solution took five seconds and requires no disassembly.
