Have looked through manual back to front and can't spot an option for showing distances in kilometres between "Start and Finish Journey" or "Waypoints".
Any Suggestions?

What do I have to do to get proper depth readings on my hummingbird 561. Instead of reading 4ft it reads 08

read the user manual as to how to calibrate the unit
remember that it reads the distance from the sender unit to the sea bed/river bed and not from the display unit

How do I erase trails

Here is a link to the lowrance website to the elite 5 page where you can download a pdf file of your owners manual.

Go to your gps screen on your unit and press "menu" twice. Under the Chart heading you will find "waypoints, routes and trails" select this option and when you open it you will find a tab for trails this is where you will locate the options to delete your trails so they wont clutter your screen.

My gm-1518 sounds like it is lining up on a satellite, but my receiver shows no satellites picked up. It has worked perfectly the last time I used it (July 4th week). Do you have any solutions to this...

This problem is a software glitch affecting 301, 311 receivers and the 5xx series DVRs. Even though the manual says not to, the solution is to select "Superdish" and "Alternate Dish" before doing a check switch.

The LST 3800 powers up and on the display it shows backlight. every now and then it will cycle through the optional menus. When I press the menu button or the up and down buttons nothing happens.

I just purchased a 2007 VIP Vantage with an LST 3800 and it was experiencing similar problems. I noticed that the "UP" button didn't feel right when pushed, so I pulled it out of the dash and used a very small screwdriver to gently pry off the front bezel. There's a clip on each side that holds it in place, and it's fairly easy to remove. The rubber button pad had a tiny piece of plastic (it was the same material and color as the plastic in the bezel) between the bezel and the button pad that was causing the "UP" button to depress constantly. I put the button pad back into the bezel, snapped it back on and the depth sounder is working fine. Best of luck.

I have just purchased a simrad tp22, it has arrived with no instruction book on how to install it, Can the tp be installed on either port or starbord, if so how is this acheived

when installing the unit --- you can mount it on the port or starbord side, and when all is in place you will need to go out and ' spin ' the boat ( this callibrates the internal compass ). there is a certain distance that the auto pilot needs to be mounted away from the tiller and sometimes a special bracket is needed to mount correctly. it has been years since I installed the one on my boat and not having the manual in front of me I don't want to just throw out numbers --- if I was looking at the boat and tiller I could tell you where to put it. also, if you are interfacing the unit with a GPS or Radar you will want to get the manual to make sure those wires get to the right place.
there is a company that I use to be associated with down in Seattle, WA ( The Off Shore store,, 206-632-3025 ) -- they are a Simrad dealer and they have all the manuals there and they would be more than happy to e-mail you the info that you are looking for,, they are nice people ( at least they were 6 years ago ). they can also order you any extra parts that you may need to make your installation easier. ((( tell them that Chris that use to work for Todd sent you to them -- you are sure to get special treatment then ))). enjoy the water and wind,

It sounds like the rudder feedback has a dead spot in the center of it. The replacement part numbers:

Rotary (inboard engines): M81105
Linear (outboard engines): M81188

Need the directions to wiring the humminbird fish finder piranha max 210

Wiring should be very straightforward, the connector on the left (looking at the back of the sounder) is the plug for the transducer, the 2 pin plug in the middle is for the power (notch in the plug cord points UP), and the 4 pin connector is for the optional speed and/or temperature sensor. Here is an install manual for your reference:
