Question about Olympus Cameras

2 Answers

I have an Olympus e510-- it makes a wierd clicking noise when I shut the power off. It also takes pictures on its own for no apparent reason. This is my first SLR so I do not know as much as I probably should. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you. Do you think by resetting the camera that it will stop taking pictures on its own?

I truly appreciate your help and knowledge.

When the IS (image stabilization) is on, the camera will make a noise or vibration when turned off. also you may try to reset the camera using the menu under custom reset... (make sure you are in P mode when resetting camera

never heard of the camera taking pics on its own... probably could be the live view going off but if it is indeed doing that and resetting does not take care of it, then you send to repair

I got an Olympus IS-10 from my grandfather and I want to take it on a trip to California, but for some reason it won't take a picture. None of the problem lights flash and it just makes this stalling...

The shutter has failed. The camera cannot be repaired as spares are as common as fresh **** ****. If it's any consolation, they weren't one of Olympus's better efforts and you can easily obtain a proper 35mm SLR with lenses for free (via FreeCycle/Freegle) or very cheaply (online auction websites).

Projector makes wierd noise and shuts down after several minutes

3 problems: 1- the light tunnel is collaping and needs replacing. 2- the tunnel might be hitting the colorwheel, which is now making that wierd noise. and 3- it needs cleaning. these models are famous for these 3 problems. there are no filters, so the dust just gets sucked in. the glue on the tunnel wears out from heat after a while. the colorwheel motor also wears out from heat and dust. the parts are not that expensive and they are relatively easy to install. contact an infocus authorized service center (from their website) and either get these parts or send it in.

I changed the bulb in my tv and it was working for a few days. Now I get audio but there is a wierd electrical clicking noise which made me think the new bulb broke but I still have a green light on the...

In this case there are two possibilities of what part is the one causing the issue, it coul be a ballast because of the clicking sound that caused the tv to shut off, and that buzzin sound is for your color wheel that it might not be working anymore, discountdashmerchantdotcom free troubleshoot

Olympus E510, Flash Flicker

If you are in a low lit area with the camera dial set to Auto the flash will do a strobing type of flash trying to help allow more light into the scene. This is called the AF illuminator function. To just go ahead and take the image, put the camera dial to P (program Auto) go to Menu - go to Wrench 1 tab - then right arrow over and then down arrow to AF Illum - right arrow and turn this function from On to Off and then take the image in the P mode setting. No flash flicker should occur.
