SOURCE: error vmware does not open Virtual

Thanks for contacting Fixya Support, I am glad to assist.

What appears to be the issue, is that your .vmx (Virtual Machine File extension) which is what how your Windows XP virtual machine terminal launches and works, may possibly be corrupted. I have been using VMWare Fusion for my Macs for nearly 3 years and it is not uncommon for this type of file to become corrupted and fail to launch for no apparent reason.

The usual way to correct this inability to launch issue, is if you can use the VMWare Fusion console to revert back to a previous Snapshot (saved backups or "snapshots" of your previous Windows XP virtual terminal sessions) of that Windows Virtual Machine terminal in order to recover the functionality of the vm.

If you are not familiar with what a Snapshot in VMWare is, then that would mean chances are you have not used that function and therefore you would have no snapshots of any previous Windows XP sessions to revert back to.

If this is the case, the what I can recommend you try, is to reinstall the VMWare Fusion 3 software to overwrite the current copy you have to see if this can help repair your affected Windows XP .vmx file.

If this process does not help, then you may unfortunately have to create a new Windows XP virtual terminal if you have no back ups or Snapshots of previous sessions.

Please feel free to reply back to this post if you have further questions.

It depends on situation.

Hi there, I am trying to install windows Vista as a virtual machine but I keep getting an error saying something that I have recently installed has caused a problem. The app I installed was vmware which I...

Hello there, usually when you want to install a virtual machine the first thing to do is determine if the virtual machine platform is compatible with the OS you are planning to install. I had similar problems with VM ware when i was trying to use it with vista and it was one error after the other.
Needless to say VM Ware is not so compatible with vista. If you really want to use a virtual machine for vista without hassles simply switch to Virtual Box from sun micro systems. You can download this for free from virtual box.org the system is straight forward, easy to use and has great support capability for vista OS.
Hope this support has been helpful?

The warnings worked with XP. Changed to Win 7 and now I get no warnings. Printer not printing and I cannot find why or see status of toners.

The warnings were provided by the Epson Status Monitor in XP. In Windows 7, you have a basic printer driver that doesn't include this monitor. Since the error lights do not give sufficient details as to the problem with consumables, it doesn't help much.

You could try to install the XP driver in Win7 using the compatibility mode. To try this, first uninstall the printer and disconnect the data cable (USB) then restart the computer. Download the driver from http://tech.epson.com.au/downloads/category.asp?sCategory=Laser&id=alc900&SelOS=Y (select XP 64-bit if you have Win7 64-bit) and right click on the installer. Then choose Properties and then the Compatibility tab. Turn on Run program as Compatible with the appropriate OS. Then right click again on the installer and choose Run as Administrator.

I do not know if this will work. A method that will work is to use a computer (virtual, dual-boot, or true second machine) with an older version of Windows installed. If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate, you can create a virtual XP computer for free. Download and install Virtual PC and XP mode from Microsoft. Install them in order. Then install the XP software from the above site in the virtual computer and connect the printer and it will work. Please note that the printer will have to be removed from the Win7 devices list for this to work. (Other virtual computer programs are Parallels and VMWare.) All of the other options will require a licensed version of the older Windows OS. Also note that the virtual computer can't share files directly with the main computer. You'll need to save files to external or removable media (optical media or flash drive, for example) to share them.

I hope this helps.

Hello, I have this old 'VIRTUAL SNOOKER' game which I would love to be able to play again. It was originaly played on Windows 95/98 and not surprisingly it will not play on Vista or MS-DOS. Is getting an...

There are a few options, you can try running the program as "Administrator", try running in 'compatibility' mode, or try using a virtual machine.
Administrator: HERE is a wonderful how-to on how to do that
Compatibility Mode: Microsoft offers a great explanation and how-to on their site HERE
Virtual Machine: This can be more complicated, as there are many virtual machine options and will require that you have a purchased serial version of Win95/98. Depending on your ethics those can be acquired by using torrents explained HERE
But I will be succinct assuming you have a licensed version of Win95/98 available. My recommended Virtual Machine is Virtual Box, a freely available virtual machine made available by Sun Microsystems.
Navigate to the downloads section at the left of the webpage, chose the appropriate download. When installed, run the program and chose your Win95/98 install disc from your local machine.
Follow the instructions provided by Virtual Box and Windows to get a Virtual Machine running and install your Snooker like normal.
Have fun. Hope this helps. I've done this a few times with success.

I need the drivers umax astra 5600 for windows 7

Hi, You could try and use it in an XP Virtual machine
Steps to take to check, if you can use Virtualization http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/support/configure-bios.aspx
Give info on all Cpus From Intel and AMD http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X86_virtualization

Virtual PC & Xpmode. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx
When you have XPmode and Virtual PC set up add the XP drivers for the scanner to the XP virtual Machine then connect the usb cable to W7

You should now be able to use the scanner in the XP machine.

Please contact the scanner manufacturer and see if they can provide the driver for Windows 7. Also, if the driver is for older operating systems, you can install the device driver in the Compatibility Mode.

thanks for rating Good luck

This is a suggestion that I have used:
1) Create another Virtual Machine running Windows XP
2) Attach your Virtual disk (.vhd) for windows 2003 as a second drive in your XP VM.
3) Scan/Fix your Windows 2003 drives and copy the required files to the required folders/files to your physical (you need to install Vitual Machine Additions to use Host drivesfolders) or virtual drives .

Hope it helps: let me know how you go.

this sounds like a problem with VM-ware, not woth your mac book, check your settings for the virtual system and make sure you have the sound enabled, as well as having the vm-tools install in the virtual machine.
