If you go to wii options on the bottom left of the wii menu, hit wii settings and then keep moving to the right until you see the option "internet," click on it and select connection settings and search for an acces point. If you can't find one that is unsecure, go back and buy a Nintendo wi-fi usb connecter, (I got mine @ walmart), and then install the software into your computer and follow your instruction manual. then connect with the Nintendo wi-fi usb connectewr on the connections screen, then you should be good to go!

I CANT GET INTERNET ON MY WII I HAVE A WIRED ROUTER BUT I CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET DSL WORKING PLEASE HELP!

Hi,
First off we have to make sure that your unit is properly connected to your router.
Note : Please note that Non-Nintendo manufactured USB LAN adapters will not work with the Wii console system.
1) Unplug your modem first for about 90 seconds and then plug it back in before continuing.
Note : You need to unplug the cable going to your computer when you wish to connect your Wii console online.
2) Insert the Wii LAN Adapter into the USB port on the back of the Wii console. The Wii should be turned off when you do this
3) Connect an Ethernet cable from your wired router to the Ethernet port on the Wii LAN Adapter.
4) Turn on your Wii and go to the "Wii Main Menu," then select the Wii icon (on the bottom left)
5) Select "Wii Settings" then "Wii System Settings"
6) Scroll to page two (using the arrow on the right) and select "Internet."
7) Select "Connection Settings." and then "Connection 1." ( connection 1 should say " None" if it says otherwise, click on Connection 1 and choose " Clear Settings")
8) Select "Wired Connection." then "OK" - It will now run a conncetion test
If the connection test is successul, it will do an update and will ask you if you agree to the User agreements. After agreeing to the terms, that's it. You should now be online.
I hope I was able to help. Hoping to hear good results.
All the best to you Mr. Edwards.
Cheers :)

Wii says needs update in order to connect with Wii Store which would allow me to download NetFlix Ap. It is connected to the net but I keep getting error message that says update could not go through. It...

Hi there!
There are two ways to connect your Wii to the internet; you can connect to your wireless network (if you have a wireless modem set up in your house), or you can connect using a wired connection directly to your modem.
If using a wired connection, you will need to purchase a Wii LAN adapter and connect that from your WII into your wired router.

Once you have figured out what connection type you will use (and if using a wired connection, purchased and connected your Wii LAN adapter) you will need to take the following steps:
FOR WIRELESS CONNECTION:
  • Turn on your Wii and click on the "Wii" button on the bottom left of the screen
  • Click on "Wii Settings"
  • Click on the arrow on the right side of the screen and select "Internet"
  • Select "Connection 1 : none" (if you don't see "None" in Connection 1, click the Connection 1 button, then choose "Clear Settings")
  • Click on "Wireless Connection" and then "Search for an Access Point"
  • Select "OK" and the Wii will display all the wireless networks it finds.
  • Select the wireless network that is yours.
  • If it asks you to enter a password or key, then your wireless connection is password protected and you will need to enter the password that was setup to allow access to your network.
  • Select "OK," "Save Settings," and then "Yes."
  • Your Wii will test the connection and you should get a message saying connection was successful.
FOR WIRED CONNECTIONS:
  • Connect your Wii to the Wii LAN adapter and connect that to your modem or broadband adapter. Please not that you will need to unplug your modem for a few minutes to reset the connection and you will also need to unplug the connection to your computer when you want to connect your Wii to the internet.
  • Turn on your Wii and select the Wii icon on the bottom left
  • Click on "Wii Settings"
  • Click the arrow on the right side of the screen and select "Internet"
  • Click "Connection Settings"
  • Click "Connection 1 : none" (if you don't see "None" in Connection 1, click the Connection 1 button, then choose "Clear Settings")
  • Click "Wired Connection"
  • Click "Ok"
  • Your Wii will now do a connection test
  • You should see a message saying the test was successful
Hope this helps!

We are unable to connect our Wii to the internet. I believe it has something to do with the renewal of my AVG security, but I cannot figure out what it is. Can you help me?????

It has nothing to do with your AVG antivirus as the Wii doesn't connect through you computer to the Internet, it connects to to the Internet via your wireless router (most common) or a wired router with a Wii LAN adapter (uncommon connection, adapter sold separately). Here is everything you need to know about connecting your Wii to the Internet.

When I go to get Internet soo I can play online it says that I can't use the connection and there is Ann error code it is 52230.I have the right password for the router and the Internet but it just won't...

What is happening is your router is not able to assign an IP address to your Wii. More than likely one of your units, either the Wii or the router, is set for automatic assignment, and the other has been set for static IP addresses. Both of the units should be set for automatic assignment of the IP address.

Go to the Wii Settings screen, and then go to page 2 and select Internet. Select Connection Settings, and choose the connection file you are currently using which should have a red box highlighting it. Then choose Change Settings, and click the blue arrow until you see Auto-Obtain IP Address. Your next step would be to set the IP address of the router you are using. The more common routers use the following IP's:

  • Linksys - enter: 192.168.001.140
  • Netgear - enter: 192.168.001.250
  • Belkin - enter: 192.168.002.090
  • D-Link - enter: 192.168.000.190
  • Apple - enter: 010.000.001.250
  • 2Wire - enter: 192.168.001.250
  • Actiontec - enter: 192.168.001.250
  • SMC Networks - enter: 192.168.002.190

From here you then have to ensure that your router has been set to Auto Assign the IP addresses as well. The setups differ from router to router. If you are unable to figure out how to change the setting to auto message us back with the brand name and model of your router and we can then supply you with more assistance.

Icant get my wii to read the netflix disc

Your wii has to be modded to read dvd discs. However you can rent netflix over the internet with your wii where no disc is required.
So you have 2 options. 1. Turn your wii into a dvd player by having it modded at www.wiihdmods.com
2. Get netflix on your wii and download the movies directly to the wii.
